Are you taking any? I decided not to but after constant nausea made it impossible for me to eat anything other than toast and weetabix I got some.

I got some random Bruneian brand which were fine except they repeated on me for about 2 hrs afterwards with a flavour that can only be described as silicon-coated rotten mango. Bizarre I know but that's how it tasted.

So anyway I ordered some Pregnacare off Boots.com and they now give me indigestion. Which, granted is LOADS better than the skanky mango taste but still rather annoying. Any tips?

By the way I am not buying any more as I have 270 days supply of these pregnacare and god knows how many mangovits left so I am all sorted for now. This was after taking advantage of their 3 for 2 offer on folic acid too. I am sorted for my next 3 pregnancies

I've only been taking Folic acid, which I actually forgot to take yesterday :(

I've always been of the opinion that vitamins are a waste of money because you can get all the good nutrition you need through food but at the moment, like you BB, I have been generally having a very poor diet so I'm wondering if i should take something to boost my vitamin intake. My mother in law suggested complete nutrition drinks such as Complan or Ensure, I don't know what they are like or if I would be able to tollerate them.

think you have to be a bit careful about those things in pg as well Ocean Star, I would ask your mw's advise. And don't worry too much about missing out on nutrition, it's you not the baby that will go short as it just takes what it needs from your reserves anyway.

Reserves are all well and good but water-soluble vits and mins like Vitamins B and C need replacing every day (you pee any excess out)..

I dont think it would have been a major issue if I hadn't started taking the vits but I thought why not?

I do take them with food and have tried variations on it - before bed, on waking, with food, before food, after food, standing on my head. I always end up with indigestion. I think it's just the way it is at the mo

As for the complan stuff, I would definitely ask a midwife's advice and have a good look at the ingredients list. If there is any retinol-form Vitamin A then discount it (it's the animal form found in liver etc which can cause nasty birth defects)...

I tried those all-in-one shakes when my grandma was ill and they were grim

I'm taking sentatagen pro natal ATM and I take them with my tea. Can't say if they are making any diffrence or not but i do feel a little better.

i just take folic acid.

Can anyone else not believe how much we get charged for pregnancy vitamins. The only real difference is no vitamin A and i higher level of folic acid. How does that mean they can charge 5 times as much as normal vitamins. Really annoying.

I've been taking Sanatogen Pronatal, they are bloody pricey though but i'm only going to take them for the 1st 3/4 months i think so not too bad.... i've been absolutely fine on them but up to now i havent really had any sickness, I'm a lucky one! :D
xx

I'm taking the mummega ones (£11!). My diet is terrible and I never eat oily fish. I took them when I was pregnant last time with my now three year old too but I just took folic acid with my other two children She is so much smarter than they were at her age. Could have nothing to do with anything but thought it worth a go again. :)

God I don't remember mine being 11 pounds.. I got mine off the boots website and they are 3 for 2 at the mo so maybe you can get a decent deal.

I think 'pregnancy' is like 'wedding'. Tack either word on to the front of any consumer product and you can instantly triple the price. I remember being so frustrated when planning my wedding at the costs of normal things that were just hugely inflated as they know theres a captive market for it.

I certainly don't 'feel' any better for taking mine, but I'm sure they're doing some good!

And indigestion is grim but not nearly as bad as the mango burps

Just looked on the boots site and actually the mumomega ones are actually £11.95! I should really just get cooking some sardines shouldn't I?

I take the Pregnacare ones but they are cheaper to buy in Wilkinsons than in Boots.

I'm taking pregnacare ones too. Bloomin' expensive tho!

i was taking mum to be ones from boots but they were 9 pounds so i changed to sanatogen pre natal and they were only 5.95 or something

Ive been taking pregnacare and still do i dont mind paying full price for them but ive been getting some great offers on them when they've been on offer in either morrisons or sainsbury's. :)
