Pregnant on career break

Anyone any advice on being pregnant on career break. Do u still have to inform employer and are u entitled to maternity leave ?

I got pregnant whilst I was doing a temp job but on a career break from my normal line of work. I left the job when I found out I was pregnant. I did a little bit of freelance work for a friend (a couple of hours a week) and I later found out that I was entitled to mat allowance based on my earnings from the temp job which was an absolute life saver!

I think you need to calculate on website for mat allowance and see if you will qualify, if not and your partner earns a low wage you may be able to claim income support or something like that? X
