Hi all,

My son is two and a half and we're thinking about potty training him, but my wife is expecting our second baby at the end of April. We don't want to start training him now only for the new arrival to disrupt his progress and leave us and him back at square one.

Do you think we should begin now or wait until our second is born?

Is he showing signs he's ready for it? If so then I'd go for it! If not, I don't see any harm in waiting. The new baby might throw him off a little bit but as long as the routine with the potty training stays the same when bubs arrives it shouldn't be too drastic. Good luck!

I think if he seems ready for it it's probably best to start now and deal with the possibility that he might be affected when the baby arrives than wait until the baby's here and then try to intruduce even more change to his life. If all goes well now you might find he's completely comfortable without nappies by the time the baby's here that it won't be an issue. Good luck!
