whats going on now?

Hey Becks!

There was a strike on Saturday and there'll be one this Thursday but you should be recieving your post every other day!

Go onto the Royal Mail website, full updates are there. Some regions are worse off than others, we've had a full mail service but know that were supposed to not be getting any this coming Thursday. It's a pain in the bottom I have to admit though. They have 2 weeks of strikes planned (were just heading into week 2 tomorrow morning) but you shouldn't have 14 days of no mail just the odd one or two. Check out the website for more detailed info.

The website is a bit misleading really there are only 4 days out of the 14 that strikes are going on - 2 for deliveries and 2 for mail centres.

www.royalmail.com/updates

The strike is supposed to be held from 25th July to 8th August.

The website doesn't really give much information as to how the strikes will affect the public - I guess it's all a bit hit and miss as to when you will receive your post.

why do they have to have strikes anyway.. weirdos..
lol
we need our post

The srikes because of them making loads of changes again  and loads will lose their jobs. I used to work for them until I had Brody and my husband still does not for much longer though hopefully!

You are probably better off looking at this site it would probably be more helpful!

It is soooo annoying though..

i get bills 10 days after i should have paid them when theres a strike.. :wall:

I've given up wondering what's happening with royal mail. If I get mail at all it's usually delivered around 3pm, and my bills are late too. xxx

oh i thought it was about pay again like they need more money anyway , machines does most of the work while they sit on their arses all day.

I havent had any bills yet since ive lived here
i moved in april 23rd
im expecting them anytime surely soon
i better not get late payment charges or something haha

There's no machines in our office

Wish there was then my husband wouldn't be so knackered when he gets home after sorting and delivering to up to 800 houses a day!

Don't get me wrong I'm not sticking up for the company but it's not true that they sit on their arses all day it's a lot harder than you'd imagine! It's the managers that sit on their arses all day!

It all does seem to be going downhill though-I don't know if it's just our office but it's a right state! They are trying so hard to save money by doing all sorts they don't realise it aint working! :wall:

I agree with jools, the Royal Mail press office has put a spin on it saying its only about money.
In fact, they want to change lots of things about people's jobs, and lots of people will be made redundant.
you say it's all done by machines, and obviously it's not, my postman isn't a robot , and he has far more mail now, what with all these credit card junk mails and ebay packages to give out, than he did a few years ago.

Also, it's not even up to lots of the staff if they strike or not, they are in a union and they are told by the union they must strike (they did vote on it but even the people who voted against still have to strike cos they go with the majority). They are even rota'd onto the picket lines so they have to be there at a certain time and everything.

I'm expecting my new leopard print pumps :shakehead:
aggges
n my 1s i got now r minnnning

Yes that's exactly right Urchin! :D

Luckily they are not forced into striking at our office (we can't afford to!) as it's only small in comparison to some of the cities but they may aswell be forced into it as it really isn't nice for the people who have to work to cross the picket line and alot of people are scared into striking! Luckily (again!) the strike days have fallen on Kev's day off so far!

I can understand why people are peed off about the strikes though as I am annoyed myself about our mail being late!

The thing is though, people were very upset about the last lot of changes when the working hours changed (meaning very late post! ) but now they are striking over changes people are upset about that too!

It's really going downhill fast I can't wait till Kev can leave too!

Becks it's strange that you haven't had any mail yet I would give your delivery office a call. With you being in a new area is it possible you haven't got your own postie yet? If so and they are anything like our office they will have to get someone to do your area on overtime! Still no excuse for not getting it delivered for 2 weeks! Can you tell I'm glad to be away from the place?! :rotfl:

we have a woman postie
and she seems to deliver when ever she pleases she lives on the estate too cos ive seen her and some times she brings along a pushchair

 You are kidding?! :rotfl:

I'd be giving them a call anyway see what's going on! I'd be well annoyed! Something aint right if you haven't had any for 2 weeks!

i dont understand about strikes... employees hav a problem with their employers so they strike, but doesnt the strike just affect the public? but its not the public's fault? how is it getting back at the employer? why dont they just put pins on the employers chair or something? sorry if i'm dumb and ignorant but i dont get it! can some1 explain 2 me!

I'm getting all my mail. Maybe no one wants to write to you Becks :rotfl:

I am waiting for a bridesmaid dress to come for saturday, so I hope it doesn't affect me too much :?
