Hey all

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my third and put on lots of weight during my first two pregnancies. I managed to lose it all after but got married 3 years ago and am now bigger than I've ever been and starting to worry I'll pile on the pounds with this pregnancy! (My children are 12 and 7 so a long break from pregnancy for me!)

I'm 5ft3 and a big size 16 (weigh about 15 stone now  ) I've put on 3 stone in the last three years and I'd got to the point where I was determined to lose weight...then found out I'm pregnant!

Have googled around a bit and love looking at bump pics but everyone else here seems to have lovely bumps and it makes me feel awful because I'm wondering if I'll ever actually show or just look fat :(

Also concerned how midwife will be (first app on Thursday) when I'm weighed etc so wondered if anyone else was having the same worries as me? And maybe we could share bump pics along the way? (When we feel ready-I'm definitely not there yet tho!)

xx

im a size 20/22 and usually lose weight during pregnancy lol, i took pictures and tho it never seemed to be that much of a bump its getting more pronounced every week now lol and its great to compare them
12 weeks

15 weeks

22 weeks

33 weeks

I weighed 15stone10 when I had my 1st...I did weight watchers and walked twice a day for an hour or 2 with my son and got down to 11stone10. Jumped from a 16-18 to a 12. I've managed to cut out most red meads and bad fats and have kept it off for 5 1/2 years. I'm happy being this size and have no desire to be tiny, skinny or to cut out favourite foods (lattes, dark chocolate, fresh bread and marmalade!).
I've recently put on a little and was knuckling down for a 2 week spurt of point counting again to shift it before it got to be too much (I'm 12st4 so have put on over 1/2 a stone)...and have now found out I'm pregnant.
I absolutely looked pregnant from about 22 weeks, and don't worry - if you recently decided to loose any weight you can probably do it by eating healthily during your pregnancy and afterwards. xxx

Wow BevG your bump pics are great! I never imagined I could lose weight during pregnancy! I've been walking lots lately and trying to eat healthier so fingers crossed. I'm more concerned about seeing the mw this week, I get embarrassed when I have to get weighed and feel like I'm going to be judged. How were they with you?

Dingdongbaby- I'd be really happy getting down to 11 stone- well done for doing that. I'm the same too, don't want to be skinny, just don't want to be such a heffer anymore lol

xx

That is a fantastic achievement well done you !

I lost 3.5 stone in 8 months from healthy eating- I got back down to a size 10 - now all that's left is the stretch marks from the rapid weight gain that got me to that weight in the first place!

Keep up the good work! Nothing is Impossible when it comes to weight loss xx

Thanks hun its been hard epically with feeling sick and not wanting healthy foods (dam craving the unhealthy stuff)
But it's worth it for sure especially after 3 sections and knowing the risks are higher the more I weigh x

WOW! Well done on that great weight loss! I lost 9lb earlier in the year but put it all back on-and more :( My problem is portion sizes. I don't actually eat that much rubbish (apart from take aways at weekends, oops) I just love my food and can't seem to tell when I'm full, I'll eat until all of a sudden I feel so bloated!!!

I'm heavy and my midwife wAs lovely! I'm high risk because if my weight and need to he consultant lead but she was very nice and supportive, don't worry!

I'm worried about the bump thing too

Glad to hear that, thanks. Hope mine is as supportive! xx

lI'm normally a size 16.dropped to a 12/14 recently through exercise. Found out I was pregnant and have now dropped to a size 10 with all the morning sickness. Midwife checked my bmi at booking appt and I was ok, but looking at the chart I was borderline obese. Absolutly rediculous. I feel like a bag of bones, my stomache goes inwards. I think they should find a new way of deciding whats healthy.

It is ridiculous. About a year ago I had to come off my pill and change to the mini pill because of my weight-I was probably 13 stone then and was classed as obese so god knows what I am now :( I know I'm overweight but I don't like thinking I'm obese, especially being a size 16. Even the doc who changed my pills was surprised when she weighed me-said I didn't look like I weighed that much but I was still classed as obese!
That's exactly why I'm dreading this mw app!

my mw's have been quite supportive both times during pregnancy, scans always say high bmi leads to poor visibility tho lolo so dont mind that its automatic nothing the sonographer can do about it. ive had to have an app with the anaesthetist both times to check they can get to your spine in case you need an epidural etc but apart from that ive been midwife led and had no extra stuff due to my weight, cat use a birthing pool here if your bmi is over 35 tho so find out what your options are where you are when making your birth plan and they do tend to monitor baby more during labour if your big too. noone has made me feel bad or unhealthy at all or even suggested i lose weight so im happy lol, i know i have to lose weight after this baby tho for my own sake as well as my kids

im 7 weeks tomorrow and i have a tendency to pile it on when pregnant. i had just lost my first half stone and now im up le duff! :D Im also worried that im going to just look fat - i want a nice neat little bump!

Thanks BevG, really helpful to know. I never needed to worry with my last two (altho I'm sure considering my height I was still classed as overweight then) so it's just making me panic a little. I was kind of thinking about a birthing pool this time so will have to ask mw when I see her.

Victoriad- me too! Doubt I'll have one, will probably be a whale soon lol xx

Hi luvs!

I'm in the same boat. I was 16.12 before I became pregnant (I'm 6ft tall and very broad) but could always get away with size 18 clothes and sometimes 16, since being pregnant though I've put half a stone on and absolutely hate myself.

I've had to get rid of half of my clothes from the wardrobe because none of them fit anymore. I've been shopping in every shop possible and just can't get any clothes to fit. My sis and me absolutely love the shop Yours as it's for bigger women, so we're making a trip next weekend in hopes that I can get some stretchy floaty tops!

It's really really hard as normally when I get so unhappy with myself I do something about it, but I can't at the moment and I feel like I've let myself down. Even though everyone keeps saying how I am growing a baby etc, hormones and body change is really hard to deal with. I don't feel or look pregnant, I just look massive. Can't wait for a proper bump!

I told the MW I didn't want to know my weight, but I have since weighed myself anyway. She said I'm fine except because of high BMI I'll have to have a glucose tolerance test later on.

So don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine :)

Sophie xx

Ill dog out a pic of me last time. I was we'll and truly whale like. It's embarrassing.

I was terrified visiting the mw for the first time with my son for this reason but she was fab (and skinny!).

I never felt upset or awkward throughout and had a normal delivery. Same this time around apart from one sonographer was quite rude but oh well!!

Bump showed quite quickly too.

Xx

Weighing in with mw is something I'm really worrying about too when I get to that stage. Hoping for a nice one and no judging!
Really good to see that some people are losing weight safely with Slimming World. I hope that happens to me too!!
