For several months now I start spotting around 10dpo, extremely light (have to really look for it for first couple of days) and then AF starts around 4 days later 14dpo. Every month when I notice the spotting I am so gutted. It seems that quite a few ladies experience this and I'm wondering if anyone ever turns out to be pregnant despite the spotting? Xx

I have a friend who turned pregnant after 3 days of spotting, but I'm not sure if she used to spot every cycle.

I'm sorry I can't help you anymore! I hope you get some answers!

xx

Hey Hun,

Just wanted you to know you aren't alone. I spot for 4 days before AF and have a LP of 10 - 12 days. We have been trying for 8 months. I have faith that it will happen though :D

Have you been to the docs? I'm going to give it a couple more months and then gonna go for a chat.

Fay

I have this too with a LP of 12 days before full flow af. I told the doc when we started the fertility blood tests and they didn't seem concerned although I wonder how much they know about these things ;) x

I do wonder too how much GP's particularly know. I had to kind of insist my gp do 21 day bloods, she did 2-5 day ones which were ok and seemed happy with that. When I mentioned the spotting she just said it'll either be my pcos or my age! I'm thinking worryingly its my age as I've had pcos for many years and its only been last 6 months or less that the spotting has gotten longer and longer. Although this month it's only been 2 days, AF just come 2 days early instead! I'm going to have some acupuncture and see if that helps, the agnus castus so far hasn't xx

Yeah I've only had the spotting before af in the last year or so, I used to just get full flow straight away. I'm 32 now, wonder if it is age related? X

I'm 37 so it's very likely to be age, really worrying we left it too long. Xx

Hi Dee - just seen your thread. Since my 1st mc in June last year I've had spotting from around 9-10dpo, and my luteal phase is usually about 12 days. It's been really worrying me as I've convinced myself I have low progesterone which could have caused my 4mcs but my GP and the recurrent MC specialist doesn't seem to think this is the case and they aren't concerned. So, I have no idea why it happens :-( I had several days of light spotting before I got my 2nd, 3rd and 4th BFP but as each of them ended in a very early mc I don't know if there was a link?? Sorry, don't think I've been very helpful! FX you get your BFP soon lovely xxx

Thanks got replying katkin, so sorry for your losses bless you. Have you had your 21 day bloods done? Xx

Thanks Dee - yes I had my 21 day bloods in February, but as that was just before my 3rd mc my progesterone levels came back as 80 which was very high (I suspected then that I was pregnant). My GP said all was fine and I've not had another one done since, so I don't know what my levels would normally be if I'm not pregnant :eh: When I asked the recurrent mc specialist if progesterone levels could be the issue she poohpooed it and said no..... Xxx

Oh it does upset me to get poopooed, I had to ask my gp to do the 21 day bloods as she wasn't bothered...why are they not bothered, surely a little progesterone pessary or summat is better than intensive fertility treatment xx

Yes I agree, my GP was useless and it was only because the nurse I spoke to when I went for a smear test told me to push for the blood tests, that I got them done!! I've lost all confidence in my GP and until I had my appt at the recurrent mc clinic last month I didn't feel like I was getting any help atall :-( They even delayed my referral by 6 weeks (I should have been seen within 6 weeks of being referred), as all the staff handed in their notice and walked out of the GP surgery at the same time so my referral sat in a basket for weeks till the newly appointed staff sorted through the backlog and sent it off :wall:
I agree, why can't they give me progesterone cream or pessaries as it might help??!!

I have 4 days of spotting before AF. I had been ovulating CD17, then spotting CD 25, then Af 4 or so days later.

This month started B6 and angus castus and ovulated cd15, really hoping i wont spot till later on :(

I suspect low progesterone. I had implant in for year after my son, then after its removal i got pregnant straight away and it was ectopic. Anyway at first bloods my progesterone was 10 and that was very low for start of any pregnancy. So anyway not done anything about it yet, we are in the middle of our fifth cycle of ttc. So if i spot again at cd8 i will make a gp appoint. Xx

Seems to be a fairly common thing but with no definitive explanation which is so frustrating. I'm having my 21 day bloods done this month (or equivalent depending when I ovulate) so will see what my level comes back with. Hoping it wouldn't affect an early pregnancy but can't hp but have a niggly worry xx

Hi just wanted to say I have two children and have always spotted for a few days before proper af. I mc my last pregnancy, but for the last six months I have had a luteal phase ranging between seven and 11 days! My cycles have also become shorter by about five days, average, since I had my daughter two years ago. I caught first month of trying last time so I don't think spotting etc always matters xx

Thanks twixi, did you spot as normal the month you fell pregnant? Xx

The af before I got pregnant lasted two weeks! A week of spotting and flow then proper flow for a week. I didn't have any implantation bleeding, I did with my daughter though. I did however spot every now and then from six weeks pregnant to eleven weeks when my MMC was discovered. I think the problem was more with the baby, as it stopped growing but my sac and placenta kept getting bigger to match my weeks xx

I'm nearly 32 btw and had my children at 24 and 29

You're a young thing! I wish I knew what caused it. Maybe my acupuncturist will shed some light when I have my first consultation next Tuesday xx

I've read a lot on ttc and from what I read its perfectly fine to have the spotting pre AF, those who have been preg never seen the spotting as a problem in conceiving. Have u asked the doc? X
