"It is recommended that you avoid eating any sort of pâté, including vegetable pâté. There are two reasons for this.

First, all forms of pâté, including those made from vegetables or fish, may contain higher levels of listeria bacteria than other foods. Pregnant women are much more susceptible to listeriosis, food poisoning caused by eating food contaminated with these bacteria.

Listeriosis is rare, but it can make you feel very unwell and can be dangerous for your baby. It can cause miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth. If a woman develops listeriosis during the last few weeks of pregnancy, her baby may be very ill.

Second, if the pâté is made from liver, you should avoid it in pregnancy, because liver contains too much of the retinol (animal-based) form of vitamin A, which can be harmful to your developing baby."

I don't like pâté, but I'm sure it's ok if you make it yourself and don't use offall(sorry not sure of spelling). Just what someone told me.

This thread is like food porn!

I love pâté soooo much. I'm going to France soon and between the Brie, pâté and various other cheeses and such I can't eat plus the wine i cant drink it's going to be hell.

My mouths watering at the thought of pâté on toast

My mum used to get this stuff called liver sausage from the deli in tesco which is like 3mm thick slices of pâté/ham stuff with plastic on the edge that you have to pull off (I assume they cut it from a wrapped thing) it's not as soft as pâté, as it stays in slices, but it tastes very similar. I used to have it as a child til I graduated to proper pâté lol mmmmmm pâté on toast mmmm lol
