OMG major rant about work.. Sorry in advance.

So.....As some of you may know last week i only worked on Monday as i wasnt well for the rest of the week and obv i was in hospital yesterday.

Anyway i rang the office today to find out how many holidays i had to take before my Mat leave starts. (my last day was meant to be this saturday) and my boss answered and he basically said to call back tomorrow morning as they were just finishing off, He then said that he had told the lasses at work to act like im not going to be there this week and that as much as he would like me there to be an extra pair of hands he doesnt want me there incase anything was to happen to me or baby. That was all that was said.

So when i got off the phone i was sitting thinking so does that mean im meant to be going in for the rest of my shifts or not? So i txt the lass that does the rota and she just said she had no idea and to txt the boss or another woman which is my boss's auntie and ask them. So i txt the lass back and i explained what my boss had said earlier on the phone about not really wanting me there and she said oh well in that case he had also said that to me and said to basically get my shifts covered but apparantly she had said to him that she couldnt just take my shifts off me and that he would have to speak to me about them.
After finding this out i text my boss at 5.30pm and asked him what was going on and was it right that he wanted me to leave now basically but he never text me back and still hasnt. So i got really peed off waiting so a good few hours ago i text the boss's auntie who never replied (bare in mind that i was supposed to be at work tomorrow) so i then text her again at 9.30pm and still didnt get a reply, Just as i was about to text my boss and the auntie again at 11.00pm tonight the auntie text me back saying she would text me in a minute so i was like yeh no prob.... 20 minutes went by and i eventually got a text saying this.....

'Amy i think **** was told to take you off the rota and change it so i would just start your maternity leave now, Its not worth risking anything..'

As you can imagine i was foaming at this.. Its took them until 11.20pm to tell me that basically they have changed the rota so not to bother coming back.
Its a bloody good job i just out of the blue phoned the office about my holidays as i would of been going into work tomorrow to find my shift already covered by another member of staff.

I mean yeah fair enough i have been told that i need to rest and take it easy abit more but does anyone else think this has just over stepped the mark? It wouldnt of been hard for my boss or someone to text me and explain the whole situation but no, instead they chose to ignore me.

On the plus side i am now thinking that maybe they have done me a favour as i havent been well at all and now i have time to think about baby and resting as its only a few weeks until i get induced. It just totally peed me off that nobody had the decency to tell me and to think that some who is supposed to be so professional (my boss) can just ignore me like tht. Hes obviously too much of a whimp and had to get his auntie to do his dirty work.

Pfft! How Rude can totally see why ur angry it's underhand. Think of u n baby now and make sure ur maternity leave holidays are correct

Hun they can't just do that if you have PG related problems, ESP without informing you officially. Look into your contract but I am quite sure it's more than a week before they cam start your mat leave early

I would check whether this is going down as holiday (if you have some left to take) or whether they are classing it as maternity. I don't think you can been signed off onto maternity due to pregnancy related sickness until you reach 36 weeks. As you've said you've not been well so it will be good to concentrate on you and the baby but you don't want to lose out on annual leave! x x x

Thanks for the replies ladies.

I have spoke to work this morning and sorted my holidays and what not out. I am so happy about not having to work anymore as i am shattered but i am still kind of peed off with the whole situation.

I have more inportant things to think of now Thats the way to look at it

Just popping in - they can't force you to take early maternity leave if you are unwell, you are entitled to take time off sick until you are 36 weeks - after that time they can start your maternity leave if you are unwell. Judging by your ticker you could actually take 1 week and 1 day sick and then go on maternity leave, it would give you that extra time at the end of your maternity leave.
