New to TTC!

Hi all,

Just started TTC and was wondering if anyone uses the early response type pregnancy tests or are they not very reliable?

I ovulated last Thursday and so am now in the 2WW and not enjoying it!! I was going to do a test at the beginning of next week but is it just a waste of money!?

Also, I often experience brief ovulation pain but this month it has lasted longer than usual - I have still got it (very slight and occasional twinge today - 4 days on). I'm sure it doesn't normally last this long (or I could just be hypersensitive to everything now that I'm trying to get pregnant.....) Any ideas on this...?

Oh and what does OPK mean...? I'm slowly working out all the abbreviations!

Welcome to the forum! I did my first TTW last month and almost drove myself mad obsessing over every twinge I felt - they must have always been there but I seemed hypersensitive to anything that my body did! My advce would be try your hardest not to think about it too much much easier to say than do I know!!!
First response is a good test as well as clear blue digital (cbd).
Good luck for this month, make sure you keep us updated.

It's oh so frustrating but the longer you leave it to test, the better. Some tests say they can detect pregnancy up to 6 days before the is missed (so 5 days before the is due to arrive) but they're not too reliable that early. It all depends on how quickly your hormone levels accelerate, which vary from person to person. I think they generally say they're about 80%+ reliable if testing 2 days early.

I'm just starting the 2ww today and already going crazy. You have to try and forget you're waiting and focus on something else, or you'll go insane. It's very easy to super-analyse every little ache and sign (not realising you had them last month too) but you never know, you might be one of the lucky girls and hit the jackpot straight away!

I would try and wait til the day hyour AF is due, andlike the others said a CBD is my test of choice!
It is so hard not to obsess over every little thing!!

I would wait until day after AF is due to make sure you dont waste a test and it doesnt affect your sanity lol

TWW is one of the worst experiences and it doesnt get any easier. But hopefully you can find lots of support of this forum and the lovely ladies will help you out.
