How long do your LO's nap for during the day?

Holly really does fight her sleep during the day and only sleeps 20mins at a time usually only a couple of times a day as well. She sleeps a long period at night but I am starting to get concerned that she isnt getting enough day rest.

I know Emms is a bit younger than your bab, but she tends to nap:
7-9, 10.30- 12.0. Half hour - hr in afternoon and half hour - hour in evening. Then asleep at 11pm. Waking twice in night for feeds.

I dont know if this is normal or not! I was reading something that suggested that babies need a lot of sleep in the day and actually struggle with more than about an hour stimulation at a time, therefore needing several naps a day. I have tried to put her down to sleep upstairs with the baby monitor on and it has worked quite well. She does fight sleep and sometimes it takes about 15 mins or so to get her to sleep by rocking etc.

Your bab may get used to napping for longer as she goes on, but I guess all babies are different. I started doing it as I realised that Emms was exhausted in the evenings and that was why she was having screaming fits all evening!

My little one used to do the same. Things settled down only a month or two ago when she started sleeping for an hour and a half in the morning and then an hour in the afternoon. I didn't do anything to make her do that; it just happened. That said, when she is ill she sleeps only for half an hour (which we had lots of lately)

It depends. I've got wise to him.....

We used to go out every day - just into town or something and I would find that he would sleep well in his pushchair but never for long enough.

I decided to stay in a bit more in the afternoons so was coming home from the shops or wherever, feeding him and then letting him get sleepy and now he has been known to sleep for 3 hours in the afternoon!

As they say... the more a baby sleeps, the more a baby sleeps.

I was naive and thought that by keeping him more awake in the day that he would sleep better at night. Couldn't have been more wrong! LOL

I just let Oliver sleep when he wants to really.

Generally over the course of the day he'll have a total of about 2-3hrs.

Usually he'll have 1 nap in the morning & 2 in the afternoon/early evening. But yesterday for instance, we were busy all morning, so he stayed awake, but then slept for a solid 2.5hrs from 12-2.30pm. Then awake til bedtime at 7.30pm.
