My sewing thread ( any hints or tips welcome)

I thought id start a thread so I can share and we can discuss sewing tips. My hubby bought me an electric sewing machine the other day (I used a manual singer before) iv been busy practicing to get better so I can make my own nappies. I am so excited about learning and practicing I needed to share. Lol
Any one got any tips please feel free to share.
