it wasn't til i got pregnant that i realised i didn't know too much about my own birth... my mum died last year so i haven't had her around to talk to about my pregnancy and i miss her so very very much...

but yesterday, i was looking at my baby album, and i found a whole load of information in the front of it that mum had filled in that i hadn't seen before.

i now know that i was term +9 days when i was induced. i was born by caesarean at 0245 after labour failed to progress, and i weighed 5lbs 14oz - my hospital notes say that i appeared premature! mum was in hospital for 6 days afterwards - i was jaundiced and had phototherapy, and i had difficulty feeding. after 2 weeks i actually lost 2oz in weight and only started putting it on later. i do remember mum telling me that she had to wake me to feed me!! :D :D

i thought it was all really interesting. does everyone else know their own birth stories?

I Know I Was Due On 10th November 1985 But Arrived 5 Days Late On The 15th. I Was Born At 3:27pm & Weighed 8lbs 5oz. It Was a Difficult Delivery Which Left My Mother Very Badly Torn and I Had a Scratch Down The Left Side Of My Face From The Forceps.

I was 2 weeks early - my mum went into hospital the evening before and slept all through the night  in established labour (she ENJOYS labour  ) they woke her the following morning at 6am and she had me at 8.30. I was about 8lb 2

My birth story is very undramatic - my sisters are all very exciting including police escorts through the snow of 1976, ambulances, being delivered on trollies etc

i was due the 30th of december, and my mum went into labor xmas eve..

i was born xmas day afternoon weighing 7lb 10oz and my mum hadnt eatten for a good day and had missed xmas dinner.. she asked for something to eat and they brought her a slice of tongue and salad :puke: the hospital where i was born is now a mental hospital lol...she didnt try breast feeding and i was on formular from day 1...

I was born 6 weeks early weighing 4lb 3oz, born by emergency c-section after my mothers previous c-section scar started to tear.

I have the same problem as you cos I lost my mam and TBH she told me few things over years but its one of those things you take for granted you'll be able to go back to her to ask things so let it slip you mind :(

I know I weighed 8lb 2oz and I was born at 12:28am - I know time exactly she used to wish me happy birthday at that time every year. even after I left home i'd get a call at 12:28 wishing me a happy birthday and I always had to spend my birthday with her cos it felt like 'our' celebration :) I have got an early years book somewhere though so must hunt that out, think she only filled out half the year though lol.. bit like me :shhh:

I don't know much as my mum died when I was young, I was born weighing 4 pounds 12 ounces and was 3 weeks early, I was breastfed until 4/5 months old. Not sure about anything else

My mum went into labour during the Two Ronnies, was in labour for 8 hours, then I was born asleep and they told her I was dead :rotfl:

I was due on Christmas eve and born 5 days early at home on the 17th December. I weighed 7lb 12oz and my mum said it was a really easy labour, she spent most of it watching Fawlty Towers dvds in bed. My sister was 15 months old & was brought in to see me when I was minutes old. It was very relaxed so they weren't sure of the exact time of birth - it was about 10:30 in the morning, but the doctor, midwife & my dad all had different times.

It must have been easy because they started trying for my brother when I was a month old! (I was 18 months when he was born).

I was born on the 30th Aug 79 after my mam was induced 5 days before her due because she had a really bad back. She was in labour for 6 hours and said it was awful  When they handed her to me I was wrapped in a bottle green towel and that was all she could see as she couldn't focus because of all the drugs! She finally go to see me the next day and said I was beautiful and worth all the pain :D

The hospital had my mum down as due on July 10th but I was born on August 3rd

My mum was watching a film when her waters broke, she got up, put a nappy 'on' then carried on with the film (and smoking    ) She called an ambulance 4 hours later and had me 5 hours after that at 4.50am weighing 7lb 11 . She was alone in labour in that she had no friends and family there to support her, there were midwives obviously. She had no pain relief.

My mum is Rh- so had to have anti-D injections and had to go to the hospital every 2 or 3 days (while still pg) as the treatment was quite new then.

My (paternal) grandparents and my dad (useless git) came to visit while my aunt was there. My dad had to be told by my grandad to look at me in the crib. In the lift on the way out my aunty said my grandad was giving my dad a propper telling off, saying how embarrassed he was to have to tell him to look at his own daughter

...and I was 2 weeks late and born on the 10th July! :rotfl:
Mum induced and the midwives took out the pink and blue blankets out of the cots and put a white one in mine so it wouldn't clash with my red hair!!! When I came out, they didn't say "It's a girl" but "It's got red hair!"

My mum spent 7 1/2 months in hospital before she had me... I know that my mother was being seen by Prof. Elder and Prof. Wilson at Hammersmith Hospital (the same Prof. Wilson as the one on Child of Our Time :) ) She was also one of the first women in the UK to have received routine and regular ultrasound scans, which I still have. Its absolutely amazing to see the difference 30 years makes, and she was just as shocked when we took her to our 3D scan.

She had her stitch in her cervix removed at 37weeks and they expected her to pop the next day, as she had an incompetent cervix, but after a week, she was induced... I was born at 3 minutes past midnight on the 17th of June after a 6 hour labour weight 7lb 12oz (my mums 5ft tall.. so big for 38weeks... lol) ... She said if they had left her to walk around, I would have been born on the 16th.... but because she was such high risk they put her straight on the bed... which delayed the labour.

I know my dad was there too... which was unusual back then, but as she had already lost 4 babies before me, the exception was made. But afterwards, he walked across the road to the club in Wormwood Scrubs where he was walking and got slaughtered.. so slaughted that he couldn't even remember getting home... and ended up having to pinch a ladder, climb in through the bathroom window, only to be savaged by the German Shepard we had... :rotfl:

I also know I had absolutely nothing... no clothes, cot, blankets.. nothing.. because my mum was so afraid of loosing me she never bothered buying anything, and had to leave me at the hospital the next day to rush out and buy things... as it turn out, there'd been a spate of girls born, and only blue things were left .... :rotfl:

My birth story has been told to me many many times, even at my wedding  probably because I'm my mums only child despite trying for years and having many pregnancies.

I was adopted at 5 months old so i dont know anything about my birth :( :( :( :( :(

My mum was induced with me 2 weeks late. She was in labour for an hour and a half, and said it didn't really hurt! With my sister she rang the hospital and said she thought she was in labour. They told her if she thought she was then she wasn't. She walked to the hospital anyway and my sister 'dropped out' after 20 minutes sitting in the waiting room  . So my mother was most surprised I was in labour for 40 hours!

I don't know too much about my birth because my mum was in labour for 3 solid days and she was so drugged up by the end of it that she has barely any recollection of it all!

She went into the delivery suite on the Sat 17th March and was dialated enough to be kept in and I was finally born around teatime on Tuesday 20th March! She ended up being treated for clinical shock and severe dehydration and so was on a drip for quite a while afterwards. I think we were kept in about a week before they let us home. I also think I had slight jaundice but mum can't remember much tbh!!!

My mum likes to keep reminding me that I was 10lb 4oz and she didn't have any form of pain relief what-so-ever! I think she's hoping this one will play her revenge for her

Lol me too! And I see from your ticker we were born the same year too :D I think my mum had to have her waters broken in hospital and I was born around 8am after about 6 hours. They'd sent my dad off to the canteen to get breakfast and he nearly missed it - he turned up in time to see mum in the final throes of labour screaming 'B*****d!' Apparently the midwives left me undressed for ages and I was shivering in my cot!
:(

My mums waters broke with me 12 weeks early, but they let her home  and I was born 6 weeks later weighing 5 11.
