We lost our baby yesterday morning.

I was only 5wks pregnant but we are numb.

I am still bleeding heavily since yesterday morning with terrible abdominal pains which ive heard can last up to 2 weeks. I contacted my GP twice yesterday and was told "just see how it goes, if you have not stopped bleeding in 2 or 3 days call back" is this normal? should I not be getting a scan or check up or something?

Anyone who has been through the same and can help me through this with some positive words, I would really LOVE to hear from you.

M x

My 1st 2 were chemical pregnancies and i bled for about 4days and didnt even see a doctor. My 3rd i had a scan and they told me that it had gone so i didnt have anything to worry about (just bled for about 4 days).

If i were you i would go back and ask for a scan.

So sorry for your loss

So sorry you are having to deal with this, its a horrible experience for any woman to go through.

I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks in May, I did see my GP who said unless i was feeling really sick, in bad pain or felt faint, I should just sit it out and wait for the bleeding to stop naturally. Unfortunately there's no point having a scan as nothing will show up at such an early stage.

Bleeding varies, but for me it was about 8 days.

I know its easy to say but try and take comfort in the knowledge that you can conceive, am sure it won't be long before you get another BFP and will go on to have a successful and healthy pregnancy.

If you feel really rotten, don't be afraid to speak to your GP, am sure if they can help they will.

Take care.

I am sorry you have had to go through this.

I 2 went though it last month, at 5 weeks and it horrible i am still waiting for my first period after m/c.

It does get easier for you. It took me a few weeks to sort my head out ect.
I did not bleed straight away my levels droped first then i bleed for about 1 1/2 weeks heavy. then stopped hospital told me that if i still had a postive test after 14 days to go back as i could need the D&C however i did not as test was negative after 10 days.

please pm me if you need to chat to someone i am here for you

im really sorry you are going through this, if the pain is bad you should call your dr back and get stronger pain killers or do you have an early pregnancy unit near you you could call them. NHS 24 are usually really good with advice too.

I am so sorry honey, it is such a terribly sad thing to happen

I had my first mc at 6 weeks last year. The doc sent me for a scan, but the EPU didn't think it was necessary as it is difficult to see anything anyway. I bled for a week and took iboprofen because it eased the cramping.
You must go to hospital asap if your bleeding gets very heavy, i.e. if you saturate a sanitary towel within one hour.
My next period started exactly 32 days after my m/c bleed began (my normal cycle length.)

I hope that answers some questions for you. It is a very sad time for you
I hope you are feeling better soon

Can't advise, but thought you could do with a few more of these
If the pains and bleeding are too much, you can get signed off sick from work. Please don't think that you have to carry on as mormal, you'll need time to adjust and recover. take it easy

The miscarriage board here is really supportive too.

There is still the sac there at 5 weeks even if the baby is not visible on the scan a sac would probably be visible. So you may bleed for a bit.

But if you bleed more than a week, or if it's a lot/painful, go back.

Sorry for your loss
