My child just found a syringe in the street!

My 10yo son and his two friends have just come in with a used syringe that they found up the road. Flippin eck I got a scare when I saw him running towards me with it in his hand!!!

Some junkie's been shooting up by the park by the looks of it, phoned the police and logged it, they were concerned about needlestick injuries but told them I had checked the boys over and no-one had been pricked by it. Got to phone the council tomorrow to get them to come pick up the syringe. Just been and told one of the lads Mum and she's gone to tell the other Mum. Have told them that if it happens again NOT to touch it and for one child to stand near it and the other to go to the nearest parent so they can deal with it.

I know its my hormones and I'm way over the top but now I don't want to let him out of my sight!

Only moved to the area in Jan (to get away from druggies and drunks)...

Sorry just needed to vent, else I will cry (bloody hormones!)

You know those big indoor playparks you get? With slides and huge ball pools? Well they cleared out one over here and there were syringes and used condoms...in the ball pools they hire it out for adult parties you see

not on the same scale but, my mum's friend took her grandkids to the park, on the way home she looked in the rearview mirror and and one of them (about 5years old) was blowing up a used condom like a balloon he had to have a blood test etc but was fine

I was walking down a busy highstreet a few years ago and saw a used syringe just lying on the pavement. People were seeing it, going "ew" and just walking on by! There was a florists nearby so I went in and asked to borrow some thick gloves to pick it up with and put in the bin, but they didnt want anything to do with it either. I ended up calling the police!

Anyway, glad everyone is ok hun, what a scary thing to happen

My son showed me where he found it last night - right outside the entrance to the park.

If I ran the police i'd had the DNA taken from the blood left in the syringe and do the b@stard for leaving their dirty needles where kids can get them. No time for druggies, had an ex into that sh!t. God help my son if he ever goes near that stuff!

The world is a scary place - makes you wonder sometimes why we want to bring a child into it eh?
