I wanted to watch this, I read a magazine article about it once, the dresses are seriously huge and expensive aren't they? Also most of the brides are about 16 aren't they?

I remember now, the dress was so heavy the little girl nearly passed out (that's not tonights programme btw, it's another I watched)

yeah I watched it last night, managed to stay awake til the end too

I could not believe how big their dresses are, but what I really couldnt believe was how many double standards there are for boys and girls growing up in these communities, I got the impression girls are not allowed to go out, have boyfriends etc.. but the boys can do what they like. And sitting men and women apart at the weddings?! WTF?

That poor girl was marrying a guy that she didnt really know and she didnt even know where she was going to live she had saved all her money for her wedding day, I cant imagine it being os important, but maybe thats just cos Im a harlet who lives with her boyfriend without bothering to get married and starts having babies!

I really felt for that girl, she really didn't look happy about getting married did she? You're right about the double standards too, it seems the girls basically can't do anything unless they're married first, but they said this was a Catholic thing rather than something specific to traveller communities. Either way I think I'd have been a nightmare being brought up like that, I was a typical rebellious teenager lol!

i watched it too! lol one of the girls looked like a xmas tree with her big dress and a tiara with a star on it haha made me laugh. i dont understand the fact that if its the youngest child they have to marry within the community and they are allowed to marry family!?! i dont see how they are allowed to get married to family but if any of the "country ppl" done it we would be disowned! Amazing how people have different values. x

Yep I watched it last night, the dresses are ridiculous, did you see the girls dancing at the wedding, it was like a rave !!!! and the clothes they where wearing OMG !!!

I loved it, but thought it was lovely that the last girl was so close to her parents and when they were dancing it was so emotional.. Because she was going to set up home with her new hubby
