My bloke went to antenatal class yesterday. Without me, as the midwife asked me not to attend and infect all the other pregnant ladies with my tonsillitis.

He now boasts that he has been to more antenatal classes than I have. I kindly offered that he could do the passing a melon bit too, since he's now better prepared than I am, but he declined. Tsk.

You are so lucky that he went... I am sure he will help you lots. My DH went to the first class with me and decided that it's a waste of time. He wouldn't go to the following classes. I was so upset.. I was the only one going their with out partner and it was so strange.. I felt abandoned and I haven't forgiven him for that yet.

Well, he's of the opinion that it shouldn't be just my responsibility, but ours. Which I think is great.

Didn't stop him from making inappropriate jokes which make me go into giggling fits at the classes we went to together - when there was the physio bit and the ladies had to be on their hands and knees with the partners kneeling next to them, he just dryly said "It's all a bit like Crufts, isn't it? The nice lady will check your teeth in a minute". I couldn't stop laughing for ages and the physio wasn't impressed at all.

I wouldn't want it any other way though.

Yes MEN!!!!

My DH hasnt been to any of my ante-natal classes, but then they have all been in the day, so all of us were husband/partner less! Saying that DH has 2 girls from his previous marriage so fairly experienced already!

Its when we were talking about labour and he piped up with "well it cant be that unbearable", or "well thousands of women go through it everday".......Its such a shame they cant feel the same pain, and they might keep their remarks to themselves and be slightly more sympathetic!!

Tsk, men! :wall: I went to only one antenatal class with my husband who acted like it was a great hassle for him to drive me and him to the hospital to attend it!! Anyway, I'm glad he did come with me, but I missed out on the 'Active Birth' workshop as he was working (he works shifts) and wasn't able to attend with me. Fortunately, missing out on the active birth thing didn't hamper my experience when it actually came to the labour and birth!
