seen midwife today and started being measured am size of 32 week pregnancy am not even 26 weeks yet. am carrying quite high but this also might suggest a very large baby and if i continue to measure big i will have to have another scan to check size of baby
has anyone else had this? xxxxx
thought id post in this tri as more ladies might have had same thing xxx

I had this with my second - got refered to consultant who basically gave my tummy a prod and said don't worry about it!! My current midwife doesn't believe in measuring providing she feels the baby is a good size. She said that measuring is such a dodgy thing to get right that you can basically make it what you like just by moving it a bit up or down.

I wouldn't worry too much - I am sure everything will show up as normal, maybe you just have lots of fluid.

I have this.......had a growth scan.....baby is big but not overly, i wouldnt worry too much hun
xxxxxxxxx

:D Hi Rach,

I am also measuring big - I'm measuring as if I was 30 weeks pregnant.
At my ante natal with my midwife two weeks ago,she noted that I was measuring large,so she booked me in for another appointment the following week with a different midwife who said the same. They have refered me to back to the hospital to see a consultant, which is tomorrow,so they can have a go at getting it right!! I may have to have more scans too.

thanks everyone glad to see its not just me :D hope everyones well xxxxx

Aww dont worry hun, if the baby is growing well thats good. (and if you get extra scans bonus!!)

I am 8 months pregnant and like Jenny on here measuring small, we are both fed up with people saying 'when!' if we say the due date. Everyone thinks i'm months away and ive only got 5 weeks left!

Yep! Apparently im only 6 months pregnant!!lol! My mum keeps tapping my belly saying it's only small! So I think being bigger is fine, it shows bubs is growing nicely, plus it's all guess work at the end of the day. I wouldn't worry too much.

xxx

Yea although my bump is big he was only estimated as being 7lb 2 oz at 37 weeks so hes not overly big, i dont think the size of the bump makes the blindest bit of difference!

 Well,I went to see the specialist yesterday(Friday),and when he measured me his quote was"Full term only usually measure 40cm,you measure 43cm"
My eyes popped out of my head,Dave didn't know what to do!!I never thought I was that big,but I suppose I don't take much notice until I see other bellies!
I have to have a growth scan next Friday, and amniotic assessment, and something else but I can't read his writing in my notes - typical Doctor!

It is good to see that a lot of people have this problem, and everything turns out to be okay though. :)

I got told I was small and Damien came out 5lb 13oz 6 weeks early! (normally 34weekers are about 4lb-4 1/2 lb). I measured 26.5cm at 31 weeks!

They don't always know hun it's not reliable but good luck!

thanks everyone for your replies am a lot less worried now
bagpuss let me know how it goes for you on friday hun xxx

wel wel wel...! i always wonder why women got the same problem..? being so big while preggy.., but i guess God luvs us so to give problems & solutions hand & hand.., before i go preaching let me give u some tips,,,, u c i used to be so big also before but thru right diet & exercise and through checking out with this web it helps me alot heres the e-mail ad maybe it could help u to ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*From Admin: Please do not advertise products and services*......, i wish u well & the baby

Hi ma.pamela...are you pregnant?

I'm afraid this forum is a non advertising one. The link doesn't work anyway.

I think pregnant women have enough to worry about without their weight being an issue. No diet should ever be introduced during pregnancy except for extreme medical reasons and then it would be under the supervision of a health professional.

Holpe I don't rattle your cage too much, it's just that I don't agree with making pregnant women feel overweight and that they should diet, God or no God.

Sorry I hate people whop advertise and use the name of God as their justification....I don't beleived in God myself but understand the importance for others and it's not fair for his name to be used that way.
Just a bug-bear of mine. :D

How r u rach? xx

 I couldn't diet if I tried, let alone try to in pregnancy,I just love food!!The longest I ever dieted for was two days and my stomach felt like my throat had been cut,so I just couldn't be bothered.Despite being a big girl naturally,I am fit and healthy, thats the most important thing.

I had my growth scan Friday just gone, and everything is as it should be,they haven't changed my date or anything. In fact, the sonographer said his femur length was measuring as if he was 28 weeks and a day,not 28+3,but his head circumference was measuring at 29+4,so he may be weighty, but not tall(already takes after his Mom!!)The amount of fluid is all okay, too.
How I could possibly go from measuring 43cm last week to a more reasonable 30cm this week is beyond me though.I had to fast for a GTT test  ,which wasn't fun,re:the first sentence of this post!
My midwife at my GP surgery told me that they should take into consideration the build of the individual, but that specialist certainly didn't!
How are your measurements plotting,Rach??

got glucose test on wednesday am def not looking forward to going without my bedtime milk and my morning cuppa :( got to go hospital for this test so not sure if they will measure me there although i will be having 28 week bloods done got to see my own midwife in 2 weeks time so will be measured by her then so we will see  xxx

:( it was the GTT that did my head in - my Dad is a diabetic, and his diabetic nurse told him not to even use toothpaste to brush his teeth when he had his done,so I didn't use it.Brushing in water, then not being able to have anything to make that slimming breath go away was horrible!!
One good thing though was that the glucose drink wasn't that bad,it was flavoured with lime and I love lime - the only crappy thing was you have to drink it quite quickly and it was so cold I had an ice cream headache! Then having to wait at the hospital for the whole two hours, couldn't even go for a walk in case I used the energy up and they were worried in case I had a sugar rush.....I had to endure everyone waiting eating in front of me... I got so angry and swore that they were doing it on purpose......then after all that I find out today that everything came back fine,so I starved for nothing!!!
I did stuff myself in the hospital restaurant after,so did Dave,in sympathy I think.......so I'd say take a book to read, and some cash so you can stuff yourself sick after
