    Hi,
I was just wondering do you know the way you get paid for 9months maternity leave, is it counted in weeks or actual months?
I plan on starting my maternity leave on 30th August so does that mean I would start back to work on 30th May? Or would it be a certain amount of weeks after I go off? Don't want to miss out on some paid maternity leave xx

You should get a letter from your employer telling you your agreed return date, and how many weeks paid leave you are entitled to.

39 weeks is paid leave (min) so count that up and check your dates.

Mine is calculated in weeks - 90% of pay for first 6 weeks, then statutory maternity pay after that which is about £135

I believe it's weeks, at my work I get 26 weeks normal maternity pay which is broken down as 13 weeks full pay & then 13 weeks 1/3 pay. Then I get a further additional 26 weeks maternity leave which is paid at 13 weeks smp only & 13 weeks unpaid.

I checked my payslip for July as started my mat leave on the 22 July & there was smp listed on there. I queried this as didn't think I got smp until Feb next year but it appears to have started straight away. I thought I only got it when my work stops paying me but it appears to be throughout the next 9 months. I think it will be clearer when I get my August payslip though. Confusing!!! x

Not sure?! I got a letter from hr confirming my dates etc after I'd handed in my matb1 - it depends on your company but I got mine before I went on annual leave followed by mat leave at 29 weeks. You should chase it up with them.
