maternity exemption certificate

As far as I'm aware, a Maternity Exeption Certificate only makes you eligible for free NHS Prescriptions and free NHS Dental Treatment.
-I think free sight tests and optical vouchers are only availbe to people exempt due to age (under 16 or over 60) and people with certain medical conditions.

Apparently not.

We've just been discussing this over in first tri. If you are claiming benefits or income support then you may well be entitled, but not on your exemption certificate alone.

Yes, if you or your partner recieve Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Pension Credit Guarantee Credit or you have an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate you are entitled to Vouchers towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses - But its not your Maternity Exemption Certificate that gains you this entitlement.

Maternity Exemption Certificates (Matex)

Pregnant women and those who have had a baby in the last 12 months get free:

* NHS prescriptions if you hold a valid Maternity Exemption Certificate
* NHS dental treatment for women who are pregnant when accepted for the course of treatment
* NHS dental treatment for any course of treatment for women who have borne child within twelve months before treatment

You should live in Scotland, eye tests are free here!

Sorry that's not much help!
