Male gynecologist

A few friends of mine have suggested to go private and see this really super smart doc. But there is one problem. He is a male!
My friends said that he has very high success rate and I should not be embarrassed. But I'm not sure.
What are your thoughts? x

I have only ever seen male docs, I've never had a woman one, it has never bothered me in the slightest, of couse the first time I got examined I felt a wee bit embarrased but you quickly get over that, especially if you go through the pre ivf tests/ treatments etc, the doctors are so professional and you dont have anything to be embarrassed about really the only things that be going through my mind these days whilst getting examined etc are thoughts about yhe actual treatment and if its gonna work.

I've never had a woman gyne always males lol. But they see it day in day out... I doubt there's nothing they haven't seen. Just think of it like that xx

Wow girls you cheered me up!!!! Thank you. I've never been to male doc. I don't know how it's going to be. I've been to female docs before. Its uncomfortable a little with a female. With a male I will feel very shy and very uncomfortable. I don't know how will I be able to talk about my sex life, ewcm, spotting and ovulation signs. But I'm willing to give it a go x

Charlotte I've found my male gynae to be much better than the woman I saw last year and I actually find it less embarrassing talking to a man. I was seeing another male gynae years ago when I had to have annual smear tests for a while and they were by far the most painless smears I've ever had! He was much gentler than any woman that's ever done it

Go for it. I've had male and female docs, you get used to it after a while! Just remember it's his job and he does that multiple times each day xx

Syd, thats what I heard that males are a lot more gentler. They almost are worried to hurt women patients so they take extra care.
I still feel embarrassed saying things like ewcm and which positions are better for baby making. I will have to over come that.

Phonix, yes you are right. It is his job. I'm just a very shy person when it comes to getting naked in front of a stranger and taking about my cycle x

I wouldn't bat an eyelid as a male obstetrician delivered my baby so I would get yourself used to it.

In my experience male doctors are much better then females. They are more caring and compassionate and much gentler.

In my experience there hasn't been a problem with a male and they're not interested in details like ewcm, temping, ov tests or sex positions. All mine asked in terms of intimate details was confirmation that we had sex regularly (2-3 times per week), asked about general health of me and hubby, previous pregnancies/losses and how long we had been trying then it was straight down to what bloods/investigations were needed x

Try not to over think it as it'll probably be nothing like you are imagining x

Different point of view here. I have a bit of a thing about male doctors 'down there'. I've managed to avoid them in my 36 years and one child later. I went for a smear I once and it was a male I just said sorry it's awkward enough without being embarrassed on top. So I made another appointment with a female. The receptionist was really judgemental and looked at me like I was stupid but I don't care. Each to their own, I'm sure they are perfectly good at their jobs but for me my comfort level is more important. The only exception would be if I was in labour and needed a doctor obviously I would do anything for baby to be ok.

My mum used to work in the IVF clinic and the male doctors were very rough esp with egg retrieval, so they are not always gentler!

I've no problem with male doctors in any other way lol, just not for gynae type things!

It's up to you hun, if you aren't comfortable just say xxx

I've always found male gynae's quite good tbh. Much better than other lady doctors I've seen!

Well this day is approaching and I'm starting to feel the stress. Never been to male doc before. This is private app, so I will be examined by a man and will ask him tens of questions about everything.
I have goosebumps when I think about it. I feel very uncomfortable with female. I will be super nervous with the man x

Aw dont be nervous you will be fine, I think I would actually be abit nervous if I had to see a woman gynae now, just because Ive never seen one before and think women maybe notice more little things like 'legs shaved properly' etc lol weird that I think that way now after going to men for years lol. Good luck with your appointment

Aw thank you Donna. I know these are stupid thoughts I am trying to control. Im not very comfortable being naked. Im fit and everything looks nice, just can't stop thinking about the moment I will be taking off my skirt and underwear.

Its crazy I know x

Its nothing he's not seen before, In my job I have to see ALOT of genitals, And I can tell you now Once its there staring you in the face you don't even think about what it is, Its just your job! And in fact I can bet you a million quid he won't even remember what it looks like when he gets home. it'll just blur into his day x

Wow Lulla I was not expecting that. Very interesting. Ha ha. I believe you now that once you've seen 1000 naked people you get bored and don't care.
I will just go in and do it. I feel also uncomfortable taking about intimate things. But since I'm paying I will say and ask everything I want no matter how intimate it is x
