Hey ladies so i have asked this before but this time im wanting some advice too i have had 7 different midwife's since been out of hospital and all the midwife's have told me to make my daughters bottles as i go along then i had my health visitor out last Friday who told me the same as there is germs in a ready made bottle so not to ready make them and not to put them in the fridge which for me is a little hard like most mums i find it hard to see my daughter cry in the night and having to make her wait half an hour for the kettle but my health visitor said that many babies have passed because of the germs in ready made bottle which i dont understand as you can buy ready made milk from your supermarket put it in the fridge and warm it up when you need it so will it be safe to ready make bottles how many mums do this and how are your little ones i had ready made and so did my partner and everyone i know and where fine thanks in advance ladies! :D xxx

What a friend of mine does is boil a kettle and put in a thermos. Then on a different thermos has cold water.
Use the hot water to make the feed and put cold water from the other thermos in a bawl and put the bottle in. The bottle is in good temperature in less than 5 min.

I make my bottles up once a day with boiling water and store in the fridge until I need them then bunge in the microwave, I've been doing this since I stopped bf at Xmas and she's now nearly 8 months and is fine.

If your not happy with making them in advance another way is boil the kettle and for example if there having 5oz fill with 3oz water and store bottle. Then when baby wants it boil kettle add the extra 2oz and add powder and it should be near enough right temp for baby!

Thats exactly what I do :)

I doubt that making bottles in advance does much harm cos when dd1 was a baby (shes now 8) they told you to make all your bottles up for the day, put in fridge and heat as you need them. so i think the health visitor is trying to scaremonger you.
its not ideal to get woken up with a screaming hungry baby in the middle of the night and have to go make up a bottle, cool it down ect while baby is screaming.

I make my bottles up fresh as i need them. however i make up 2 bottles for during the night and early morning feeds. one goes in the insalated bottle bag and on my bedside cabenet for romans night feed. and the other in the fridge and heat up for early morning feed.

theres always gona be some germs in the bottle.

I have also been really confused with all the advice about bottle feeding! I've read up a bit about it and they seem to say that the reason for making it fresh is so that the water is above 70 degrees when the powder is added to kill bacteria that maybe present in the powder. So if that is the case could you not boil the kettle, add the powder and then cool the bottle in a jug of cold water straight away (rather than wait 25-30mins for the kettle to cool down)?

that's what ive been doing hun and last night i pre made 3 bottles 2 for the night and one for morning and it was a little bit easier and little one is fine i think the health visitor said that to scare me because she also said that it only come in this year lmao so i don't know my daughter seems to be fine xx

i made then on the moring and put them in the frige as long as used them up with 24 hours your ok lol

I fill the days bottles with water in the morning and leave them on the kitchen side. I then add powder and heat as needed.

I make the night ones and first thing in the morning last thing at night and do he same.

So far my little one is still going strong and not had any tummy upsets.

On tapatalk so can't see tickers :-(
Excuse the typos, phone has mind of its own.

worrying too much about bacteria isnt healthy, lo has to be exposed to some at some time or they get ill a lot later. its just because some ppl made days worth of bottles and stored them and babies got sick, or their fridge wasnt working properly. if baby drinks the milk within 24 hrs of it being made then not many bacteria can multiply to harmful levels in that time period in a properly working fridge.

Hi I made my bottles up with boiled water in the morningfor the day feeds and then in the evening for night feeds and then leave them on the kitchen table until needed then add the powder and then warm it in a jug of boiling water.Once my little ones were around 8months i then started to warm them in the microwave. I did it this way on both my children who are now 3 and 17months and i have had no issues with them.

I used to make 2 bottles, one for the night feed and one for early morning. I read somewhere it's ok to boil kettle, leave to cool make the feed and pop it straight in the fridge, use it within 24 hours and reheat when needed, just like a carton. I've been doing this since Angel was about 2 months old, absolutely fine. xx

I make the bottles up in the morning. I just put boiled water in the sterilised bottles and when she needs a feed I add the powder. So no fridge but I was at night using a thermos but I still had to cool it down and I always think years ago they didn't even sterilise bottles and we are all ok.
