I've been using the clear blue dual hormone kit.
I've been sceptical about why a new tester is needed everytime.
Does it have some sort of memory? is it just so we spend more money? Etc
Today is the first day of testing for this month, so I decided to try both the new tester and the old tester with the one pee.
One test showed a flashing face and one showed the blank circle.
How can this be possible when the stick is detecting the same hormone from the same flow of pee???

Deleted as misunderstood question! Coolnomore is right.

As far as I understand it, the first time you insert a stick in a new tester, it will show a blank circle. It works by testing the difference, not a standard amount, so it needs some info to go on before it can give any conclusions.

You don't need a new tester every cycle though, I used the same for for four cycles very successfully (well, in terms of detecting ovulation anyway). Once you run out of sticks, move to a new tester for the next cycle though, as the battery probably isn't designed to do much more.

The system is definitely designed to get plenty of cash out of us, but the testers are definitely re-usable. Good luck!

OK thanks. That makes sense that it's always blank to start with so it can detect change.
