US strollers recalled after children's finger tips amputated

Apparently Maclaren have said that the design is the same on the UK made models but as yet they havent been asked to recall them......

Me too Moo. I have a Techno XT. I think they problem is when the children are putting their hands near as you collapse it.

Someone told me about this yesterday! How bad is it that they haven't recalled the UK ones if they're the same?!

I think they'll have to. A mum has already come forward with the same complaint about them.....I reckon more will now...

OMG you'd hit the wall....BUT I think the reason that they are not recalling here (as I understand it) is because the instructions are very clear. This problem only actually occurs when the kids stick their fingers in when the buggy is being collapsed.....to me it's pretty obvious you keep them well away when you're putting it down but obviously kids can move quick so.......

Surely it shouldn't be able to do that anyway though? It's like having an electric saw turned on, on your living room floor and being told to keep your child away from it

You'll do your best to keep them away, and it's obvious they shouldn't go near it, but what if they did?! Unneccessary

But where does that argument end.........I think it end up with everyone needed to be treated like idiots.....does no one need to employ common sense anymore? Everyone moans about the 'nanny state' saying we can make our own minds up and use common sense on various issues with our kids but when it suits we cant apply it......

Surely if all the other companies can make ones that don't chop fingers off, Maclaren can too? I just think it's silly to have a buggy that chops fingers off when you can have one that doesn't

I bet if you stuck little fingers in the right/wrong place on most buggies you'd be able to chop the tips of fingers off not just these ones!

Definatly agree many buggies would probably do this, if stuck in the wrong place, but maybe mclaren was just too obvious a place...
Still disgusting though.
