Longest I ever ben late

Hello. I'm in my early 40s probably to old to conceive but I still have regular periods minus a week late at most . We've ben try aka no protection for a good 2 years now still nothing .. im thinking it could be because I had hernia surgery last month .but not sure part of me always wants a child the other part says it won't happen because it hasn't in 2 years. My last period was August 24 th littel over 2 weeks later I haver unexpected herina surgery. I'm 3 weeks 3 days late now.i know I need to take a test but I've took so many in the past just to be negative. I don't want c it again I just wish my period would come.but I'm planning on taking a test at 4 weeks. Husband is beginning to think im pregnant now.i don't no is it possible or just wishful thinking again?

I think as you say only way to clearly answer your question is to do a test.
