Late BFP??

Hello all,

I'm not pg .. so sorry for butting in on your 'area' But I was just wondering if any of you had a late BFP?? I'm about 4 days late (never been this late before) .. and got a BFN this morning ....

I'm convinced I'm not pg anyway (no symptoms) ... but was just wondering if there might be the slightest possibility that my HCG levels are still too low?! Tested with a 25 miu one .....

Gawd ... I'm going to feel soooo silly for posting this in a couple of days when AF turns up

If you dont have any symptoms Id probably say you're not. Tests that detect 25miu are usually pretty good and at 4 days late it'd probably detect it.

Could be wrong though, all women are different and it has happened before!

I did hun, i was 2 weeks late when i got my BFP,turns out i must have ovulated late that month,fingers crossed for you xx

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and STILL don't have any symptoms.

But I would have thought at 4 days late the test would have detected any pregnancy hormones. What time of day did you test - perhaps retry with first 'wee' of the day - mid-stream etc. etc..... - that's when the hormone levels are at their highest.

Also, hate to ask a stupid question but did you leave the test long enough? When I was pregnant with my last baby, I threw the test away thinking it was negative, but when I saw it in the bin the next morning I saw it was positive. Turned out I hadn't left it long enough - approximately 50 tests later ( ) I was finally ready to believe I was pregnant!!

Good to know that not everyone gets symptoms!! Everyone else seems to get sore boobs etc etc!! My nips are sore if I 'tweek' (sorry TMI ) ..but that's probably because I keep tweekin' 'em!! And the roof of my mouth is itchy ..... NOT a pg symptom!! haha!

Yes .. I tested with fmu ... and I left it for 5 mins like it says on the pack ... it was one of those cheapy ones that you dip in a sample ..... not even a whiff of a line! Ah well ...... just have to wait and see what happens!

ive used cheapies and expensive tests and got my bfp on last 2 pregnancies 3/4 days before af was due xxx

bec,could you go and get a cb normal please as your temps are different to any other cycle and are a lot higher.please darling at least then you'll know for sure as those cheapies were giving me lines that were barely visible

OK ... I can't get to any shops during the day .. working in a dive in Battersea, no-where near anywhere! But I might order some online .... tomorrow if she still hasn't shown and my temps are still up .. then I can test with CB when they arrive ..

Time will tell for sure babes... But i think you already know yourself, how you feel... take a first morning sample to your doctors and get it tested there..... if you still don't get a BFP then just wait until your period comes or you do test positive.... horrible not knowing... I used a Clear Blue, not the digital type just the normal, i knew a few days before my period was due.. i swear by those ones... Can I still be pregnant if the test is negative (have a "false negative")? In a word, yes. You could be testing too early (before your baby is making enough pregnancy hormone to be detected by the test.) And some women (this is fairly rare, but possible) never get a positive urine test even when they're definitely pregnant (for some reason the hormone doesn't make it into their urine.) I have a friend who didn't get a positive HPT until 25 DPO! (With her second baby, a test at 23 DPO was negative . . . but a test on 30 DPO was positive. Oddly enough, with #3, her positive test came at only 12 DPO.) If you get a negative test but think you might be preggo anyway, wait a couple of days (giving the hCG hormone time to build up) and try again. It's not over until the fat lady sings-- and your period crashes the party.

If you are not monitoring your fertility in any way (OPK's, charting cervical mucus or basal temperature, ultrasounds) it becomes extra-tricky. There are two parts to every menstrual cycle: from the start of your period to ovulation, which can vary quite a bit in length, and from ovulation to your next period, which is usually consistent in length. (This second half is known as the "luteal phase," and the normal range is 10-16 days. It's normal for your typical luteal phase to vary by a day or two. For example, mine is normally 11 days, but 10 and 12 are not unheard of either. I have also had a couple of longer ones by total fluke.)

Because ovulation can happen at any time, it's possible your egg was delayed for some reason (stress, illness, travel, excitement.) This doesn't mean your period is actually "late" (it could arrive within the normal 10-16 days after ovulation), but rather than your entire cycle was delayed due to a later-than-usual ovulation.

Oooo thankyou Penstraze .. very interesting read! I think there are 3 possible explanations for me then really ....

I am charting and so I know that in theory I am now 17 days past ov ... so I could be pg ...

But this month my temps were different to normal so I think I may not have ov'd at all and my temps are just dicky ...

Or I ov'd later than my chart is showing and I'm not late at all!!

Anyway - I'm ordering some Clearblue tests online today to have ready to test later in the week .... if necessary ...!
