Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

Hopefully they won't need to do it again anyway!

I've finally started to get EWCM. Not totally stretchy but certainly a little. X

Miss July I'm hoping this week flys by for you your appointment will be here quicker than you know!!

I'm all booked in for Monday the nurse took a rough guess of about 12 of the follicles being the right size so fx crossed and we will see what happens x

Ooo Monday, how exciting! I have an outpatient appointment for my wisdom tooth on Monday... eek.

12 would be sooo good Laura! Xx

Great news Laura. By Monday they could be a bit bigger, you never know!

All the forms have arrived, I didn't know there would be just so many! My husband has made me do all his and is just going to sign them, bloody men.

We have also got to give them passports, a recent photo and credit card details for confirmation of our identity. I never knew all that, guess it's so the don't get us mixed up. - did you all have to do the same?

It feels very exciting.

I don't remember giving any bank details but I think we did have to provide I.D and also again at our first appointment we had to bring driving licenses as identification.

It feels overwhelming but they should take you through the forms and explain things for you. :)

Hi

We had to prove our identity too. I guess it's to prove you are who you say you are and, therefore, eligible for NHS funding. And also so they don't get your details mixed up I guess. I'm not sure if I had to give bank details though, don't think I did.

I also had to fill in the forms for DH. I didn't really mind but I guess men don't like doing it eh! Mine doesn't like doing stuff like that and doesn't really like his handwriting either (for no reason really). X

It also came with pages of information about what and how of ivf and risks, single embryo policy etc. Which I've read and nothing I hadn't already seen online.

My husband ask if he has to read it!!!!! Honestly, I said well you won't know what we are talk about at the meeting. Apparently I can just explain it after! Men. I do know he wants this as much as me but he doesn't seems to want to to put that much effort in right now. Not letting it bother me though as its typical man I think. Xx

Hi ladies just a popping in to say hi. Good luck to everyone cycling. Blue flower excellent news on the donor...hopefully this will be your take home baby ...as for us we had an appointment at a new clinic last week. They seem much better than our old one. Having a consultation next week so hopefully they will introduce some different things next time. Still insisting on the hysteroscopy before we do anything tho. Also going to have hypnotherapy xx

Thanks Tiptoes, good luck to you. I would definitely want the hysteroscopy. What other tests have they done?

Tasha - we had the information talked through with us, I think for that very reason! We signed the forms in the meeting and were given information sheets to take away. I think that's better as you can ask questions and the men don't have to read it then. Xx

Hi guys.
On Thurdday my dh and I went to see specialist following 18 months ttc and got results which showed I had eggs of an 40 year old despite being 31. Therefore he's recommended IVF. Completely new to it all so any advice support would be great! We are in West Yorkshire and have to decide if having it at Manchester or Leeds before the 28th Jan which is when pay for treatment and sign everything!
Words of wisdom and support appreciated xx

Hi Hoping

When they say eggs of a 40 year old, what tests had they done?

Please don't be disheartened as there are things you can do. CoQ10 and royal jelly are good for egg quality. Do you know why they are bad (eg PCOS)?

Also, I'm guessing there is a reason why you can't get it on the NHS. I will be paying next time. X

Hi Phonix
Id had tests on NHS in Nov which were borderline with suggesting early
Menopause. Paid £70 for more detailed test which did say my hormone level was low suggesting it was early menopause. Because I have a son I have to pay which I do understand. I'm just hoping it happens early on but also scared to hope!! 😳

I had the same tests. The first one they said could be indicative of early menopause but the second one was OK... but I later got diagnosed with PCOS and apparently it can skew the results. Have you had early menopause in your family? It tends to be genetic. If not, any chance you could have PCOS? Xx

Sorry to hear that Hoping12, I was the other way round, egg reserve same as someone 10 years younger and told that ivf should help but even though we got loads of embryos the quality wasn't good and got 3 bfns. We paid for cgh last autumn and were told that at my age 1 out of 10 eggs should be chromosomally normal and as all my tests were good for my age I was hoping for at least one, so was shocked when out of 13 eggs collected, 11 fertilized, 8 survived till day 3 for testing, all of them had extra or missing chromosomes, it was devastating. Hopefully you will be the other way round and have good quality ones. :)

I filled in all the forms for DH so he just had to sign them, otherwise I'd be waiting weeks!

Good luck for tomorrow Laura! How is your blood pressure?

My DH brought up the subject of the egg donor last night, just asked when my appointment is as if its definitely happening, amazing!

Blueflower, thats amazing :) I am excited for you.
Hoping12, is it low AMH you have? I have very low AMH, I am 32. The consultant said the eggs will still be good quality so thats a bonus. I havent been told I am in early menopause, the consultant actually made a point of saying I wasn't, I assume it will happen earlier than the norm though. I have a son too so we have to pay too.

So, I have decided I am getting nice and healthy from now!! I am thinking, egg development goes in 3 month cycles, so if I start now then they should be good by the time we have IVF again xx

Blueflower that's great news, your plan of waiting it out seems to had done the trick. What did he say when you said re the appointment?

Laura thinking of you for tomorrow, how are you feeling now?

This has been the longest weekend I've ever experienced. Waiting for the appointment on Tuesday, it's not even start of treatment. how do you all survive the waiting ? I know I won't be able to do any work tomorrow and won't sleep.

Xxxx

No it doesn't you've got me thinking now. What is pcso? How would I know of had it? Xx

PCOS is polycystic ovary syndrome, it's where cysts form on the ovary preventing ovulation and causing anovulatory cycles which is where you don't ovulate and cycles can be quite long. I was diagnosed with it in 2012 and my cycles would range from 70-100+ days it was crazy. The PCOS would affect the FSH and LH hormones (to be honest I can't recall specifically what is affected and why) but that's why some results can be varied. Some ladies have PCOS more severely than others and symptoms can range from no ovulation/periods to excessive facial hair, weight gain around the middle etc... Have a Google of it you'll find more exact info. My consultant told me my PCOS was more physical than hormonal as my test results were all coming back normal, nothing out of the ordinary except for extremely long cycles lol. My AMH test was as it should be for someone of my age as well - which shows that some results can be different with ladies that have PCOS. Your doctor would have to confirm PCOS, have they mentioned it? X
