Still can't believe she's here and that she's a she! I'll try to keep it brief, the birth was the easy bit though!
So I was booked for early induction due to severe visual migraines at 39+1 so I went in on the Friday and had one pessary at 10am. This did precisely nothing so 6 hours later I had another, and again, nothing. On Saturday morning I had a third and started with unbearable sharp pains across my groin which were accompanied with regular tightenings - I thought this was def it. But when I was examined there was no change and I was told these were prostin pains from having 3 tablets. Cue lots of tears! So another night in hospital, when they died down and stopped by the morning thankfully. I was allowed home on Sunday for the day where I had my show, hurrah! Monday I returned where I was 3cm, yey! Had another prostin then waters were broken at 7pm. Started having these sharp pains over night again and thought nothing of it but by 7am they were fairly intense. Got into the labour room at 9am and I was 5cm. Baby's heart rate was super high though and I was running a temp so lots of activity in the room and I was given antibiotics, had blood taken and had iv paracetamol. Everything settled down and by 11.30 I was 10cm. Pushed her out myself (hurrah) and had a slight tear when her shoulders came out as she twisted 3 times! 8lb 4oz of perfectness. I honestly spent the next 2 days searching for a winky as I was so sure she was a boy!
The birth was totally uncomplicated but when my blood results returned I has group b strep in my blood meaning we both had to have several days of iv antibiotics in hospital. I was so worried about Connie but fortunately she tested negative for the infection and mine cleared up. It was worrying but I count myself lucky that they picked it up and treated it quickly - goodness knows what would have happened if my temp hadn't been acted upon.
Anyway, she's here and so perfect. I feel so lucky to have my third surprise baby xx
