Im currently living 10 min drive from jaycee's new school. Ive put in for a transfer and i can do homeswap. only problem is, no bugger wants to move to my area.. ive been offered a swap but 10 mins in the other direction from her school, and its still a 2 bedroom house, like mine is, so i wouldnt be gaining an extra room. BUT its in a nicer area than im in at the mo. Id still have to drive 10mins to get her to school. I dont know what to do. Ive compared houses (havent viewed it yet, but ive been given details) and the only bonuses are better area(ish) a garage and possible slightly bigger rooms.
Im debating whether to hold out for my ideal location but i highly doubt ill get in there..unless i swap my 2 bed house for a 1 bed flat which is a no no!
Just wanna know if anyone thinks its worth it?

This is the advert for it... (sorry its in caps, i copied and pasted it)

I NEED A LARGE 2 OR 3 BEDROOM GROUND FLOOR FLAT WITH GARDEN OR HOUSE, DON'T MIND 1ST FLOOR FLAT IN A HOUSE,BUT NO HIGHER THAN 1ST IN MOST WEST LONDON AREAS

I voted no, but strictly because you are pregnant, you will have enough on your plate without a move, to want to move again, if that makes sense. However, if you see yourself in this house for a long period of time, overall it may well be a good step in that like you say it's in a desirable area, therefore next time you go to swap you've more chance of a 'better' swap, but very best wishes whatever you decide to do

can't you just put your house on the market instead of swapping it?

I've clicked not sure, because of the pg thing.....hmmmmm.....i would say if it is in a nicer area and the school run is pretty much the same time, then I think you should arrange to at least go and view, you may get there and realise its not the right place for you so thats then decision made.....however, you may get there and feel that the move is right.

So my vote is........view it :D

i clicked not sure.

a because of you being pregnant. and b, i would view it first.

if you are umming and arring about it i would say no as you are not complety happy with it, wait for you ideal even if it means waiting a bit longer.

Its housing association/council so no. I can only transfer to another place.
We cant swap til we've viewed each other's houses anyway, but i just didnt really want to waste their time, id feel so bad going to view it then turning my nose up as if its not good enough for me
Redshoes- i thought about that too, like if i stay there for a while, and change my mind on the area, at least ill be able to get to my ideal location sooner as id be in a better area to swap to! Noone wants to swap to my area, they just want all around it lol!

i don't really know, but if oyu want ruislip then I would hold on for that, this is coming from someone that has just moved and got peed off wwith boxes!!!

Boxes suck LOL!!
The only thing pushing me is the fact i wont be able to get out of Hayes. The only places ive been offered are in the other direction, further from ruislip. Northolt is right next to it and some areas of it are fine.. i just dont know!! I keep getting offers of west drayton and southall etc which there is no way im moving there! (no offence to anyone who lives there)

Ive emailed lots of people in northolt and theyve all said no to my house. And ruislip and all the surrounding areas.. im gonna go view it i think. have a look at the neighbours etc...

We've been waiting to move for over a year so I do know how frustrating it is Jayceesmumma when all you get offered is worse areas :shakehead: I really hope you go see it and then feel yes or no for definite, very best wishes

completly agree

go & have a look & then decide, if its a lot better area then i would be inclined to say go for it!
good luck hun.xx

im in northwood hills!

id hold out for ruislip hun or try eastcote ? northwooh / northwood hills ? the areas may be next to each other but in my eyes are miles apart in what there like , coming from someone who was brought up in the country i kinda like the feel of where i live , close enough o get into london on tube but fair enough out to be near countryside , access to all motoways and fairly quite !, northolt isnt much better then hayes in the scheme of things is it ? hubby lived there , and his lived in southall too i didnt feel comfy in southall and cancelled moving in to his when he did lived there .

Ive tried all the surrounding areas but noone wants to swap :(

Turns out the woman wants to exchange her 3 bedroom town house in HAYES (2 mins from me) for my 2bedroom house  bloody typical!! I asked her if she wanted to do a 3 way swap cos ive seen some adverts for a 3 bedroom house in ruislip wanting 3 bedrooms in hayes areas ( :cheer: ) which would mean, she gets my house, they get hers and i get a 3 bedroom in ruislip!! BUT she said she'd call me back yesterday afternoon but still havent heard sod all from her  Ive text her and everything but nothing
