Hi, after two episodes of reduced movements I was sent for a scan and they found out the blood flow wasn't as high as they'd like it to be & that it indicates the start of pre eclampsia ? Or the scan I had indicated it, and they're just completely separate. It's all such a blur.

I am being scanned 3 times weekly & they've basically said that I could deliver any day and it'll be by section.

So I'm now 25+3 .. Every day is a blessing my baba now weighs 1 lb 13 oz & he said she should be fine when she weighs 2 KG..

Still such a worrying time
& wondering if anyone has any info on this? Cannot find anyone who's had similar stories anywhere.

Xx

hi hun i work in maternity and ive had 3 children so i know a bit about this, basically as you know the blood flow through the cord is how your baby gets nutrients to grow,if youve got absent edf then baby will stop growing and its safer for baby to be born as it affects the oxygen which can unfortunitly result in an iud, however try not to think of that its brilliant that you are being so well looked after and if at any point they think theres a risk to baby they will deliver, ive seen many babies born at 24 weeks and do fine so just take each day as it comes as your do more harm worrying, with pre eclampsia you will start getting high blood pressure, swelling, protein in your wee, headaches, flashing lights, reduced movements so any worries just go straight to get checked out,any other questions feel free to ask xx

Hi thanks for the reply!

My BP has already started creeping up and on several occasions have had protein in urine now & it just worries me!

I've been getting headaches the last few days but I can't really say if I can just put that down to stress.

It's just the whole not knowing when it'll happen & I'm so unprepared right now that It scares me.

What's an IUD? Sorry. Lol. X

intra uterine death, dont think like that though, thats why you are being so closely monitored, your be fine...think positive xxxx

Thanks I realised what it stood for after I re read your message. Ill to stay as positive as possible x

Hi
I also have had 2 high risk pregnancies I had placenta issues too. Mine was the left uterine artery and they were concerned with the endiostic flow. It was also too low, they said I was high risk but wouldn't go into details. Eventually I asked a consultant to explain exactly what it is they are worried about. They basically said my placenta is working too hard and baby is basically being starved, but the whole time baby is gaining weight he was better off in than ouy. However they wanted to monitor me very closely as my placenta could just give up as it can't cope. I was given weekly scans to check the flow (by a specialist consultant) and had to attend hospital twice a day 4 days a week to monitor baby's heart rate via a ctg monitor. My first was born 8years ago at 33 weeks he weighed 3lb 8oz and was delivered by emergency c section, my second is now 6 months old, he weighed 3lb 5oz and was also delivered by emergency c section at 32 weeks. They both spent some time in special care Have you had steroid injections to help baby's lungs incase they do deliver early? Try not to worry the hospital monitor us high risk patients very closely. I was so worried I bought a midwife grade Doppler to monitor baby at home x x

Hiya! Thanks for the input I'm still being monitored very closely & they said that there blood flow is high so it's not all getting through but just like you, until it stops again or/and baby stops growing I will just be monitored closely. I am scanned 2 times a week (it was 3times a week) & I have regular growth scans. Didn't realise the growth was a concern until last Tuesday when he said that my baby wasn't following the same line but because it was such a small change he wanted to do a growth scan at 32 wks (8th of April) - they said they'll reconsider their options then but I hadn't been told until last Tuesday that growth was a problem. Everyone said it was fine! LOL. They tried to explain it to me too. He said it was like having four taps on and not all the water goes through cuz they're all running so fast. Meh. Quite confusing

Currently on labetalol aswell for BP x

Glad both your babies were well xx

They were contemplating steroid injections when I was admitted but because my bloods came back okay, they said that I won't need them yet. X

I had steroid injections at 28 weeks as a precaution, they need to be in your system for at least 24 hours before delivery to take effect. They mature baby's lungs so they won't need to be on oxygen when they're born. It worked for both of mine, neither needed oxygen. I'm surprised they haven't given them to you as a precaution, If you have to have them (you have 2 exactly 24 hours apart) then they are not nice at all. I'm scared of needles so it doesn't help! Good luck I hope it all goes well for you x x

Thank you. They did go through the whole steroid injection & early delivery with me but because my bloods were okay they are just monitoring .

It's good they worked with both of yours. The midwife explained them but they're meant to be very painful?

X

My bloods were normal throughout too, the placenta issues can be related to pre aclampsia but in my case they dont know the cause. Ive even been tested for thrombophillia and other blood clotting disorders as recommended by a specialist hospital in London and they all came back normal too. The consultant doesn't understand what's happening and my next pregnancy will be under a specialist hospital. Oh yes they are rather painful I dreaded going back for the second and if I was just doing it for me and not the baby I wouldn't have gone back! X x

Awww yes I think they're mainly concerned about pre eclampsia with me at 25 weeks the consultant bluntly said to the nurse 'she's going to get pre eclampsia' - it's amazing how they can tell these things & along with all the things he said i was so shaken

Do they think you'll have the same problem with your next pregnancy? It is strange that they don't know what it could be. I've been checked for blood clotting disorders too.

Glad they're being so helpful with you though! Xx

Yes I had the same problem with both of my previous pregnancies so the chances are my current pregnancy will be high risk too unfortunately. I've never got further than 33 weeks :-( they are being helpful because not enough was done with my first and he was in distress for too long, as a result his brain was deprived of oxygen and he is now brain damaged and disabled. They wanted to prevent that happening again so they were all super carefull and extra observant with my 7month old son. Luckily he is ok.
That's awful they said that as if you weren't under enough stress already! X

Oh you're pregnant now, how far along are you? I think people who are classed as 'low risk' are at a lot more risk than high risk pregnancies? As odd as that sounds but 2 scans & they're left for the last 20 weeks without anything!

I'm sorry to hear about the tough time you've had but I'm glad they're keeping a close eye. Maybe this bubs may make it past 33 weeks! I have my fingers crossed for you xx

Thank you :)
I completely agree anything could happen in those 20weeks and just because a promblem may not have occured in a previous pregnancy the drs assume it will be the same next time, its quite worrying really. I bought a midwife grade Doppler so I could monitor my baby's heart rate at home (with previous pregnacy) I will also use it this time round. It's only early days at the moment as I'm only 4weeks, we planned to concieve our third and final baby when our son is 6months. It worked out well as he is 7months so We fell pregnant when we planned :) I did lots of research on how to concieve and luckily it only took 2months with the last 2 x x

It's unfair to just assume everything is going to be okay. I'm glad high risk ladies get looked after so well but there are so many 'Low risk' pregnancies that aren't actually that. I bet that Doppler will be a god send mind you, I was too scared to get one at any point probably would have managed to freak myself out.

I thought I was infertile! Lol took us months and months to conceive and the month I did conceive I had not long gone to the doctors really sad saying 'I don't think I can get pregnant!' Little did I know, I was at that point!! Amazing.

You're very lucky to have worked it out well! :) fingers crossed for you with this pregnancy, will be thinkin of you! Just stay intouch & if you ever want to talk PM me :) xx

Thank you, I appreciate that :)
Aww bless you :) it normally happens when you least expect it, I've found that with a lot of my friends, just when they start to lose hope they're already pregnant!
I hope it all works out and you can cook baby for as long as possible. Please let me know when your little one arrives :) wishing you all the best. Good luck and I will be thinking of you. If you have any questions or if baby does make a early arrival feel free to inbox me :)
Take care x x x

I went through this was picked up at 28 weeks had both sets of lung drugs (not painful) then monitered daily and scanned every Two days. They wont give you the ceasarean until you go into reverse flow which happened at 30 weeks then chances are you will have him that day.

Thank you. I had my baby girl at 35 weeks due to intermittent absent EDF and IUGR XX

Massive congrats to you Hun :) so glad it all went well for you x x x x
