Hi ladies im hoping someone can help, i got my infertility appointment on the 8th of april after 4 years of not getting pregnant and on the letter it says its important your partner comes with you, what will happen on the 1st appointment, also is it possible to ovulate on cycle day 25, my last 3 cycles have been 37days 40days and 27days so not sure when my next one will be x

Hiya, at our first appointment we had to do loads of paperwork, family histories, previous pregnancies and children, discuss how often we dtd, cycles etc. Then we had to arrange more appointments for extra blood tests, ultrasounds, hsg and more SA. Our appointment was with the fertility nursing team, here we don't get to see the consultant until all the testing has been completed.

Yes it is possible to ov on day 25. I've been pregnant twice, first time I ovd on CD69, second on CD70-something. I did lose both but according to doctors the CD had no bearing on this.

thanks for your reply snowbee!! x i know my family history on pregnancies etc but my partner doesnt as he doesn't have contact with his family x im not sure if i'll be seeing the consultant straight away so will have to see, what is a hsg? x ive had hormone bloods day 21 bloods 2 u/s waiting for my next cycle to have a scan done on day 5 x sorry to hear about the misscarriges its not nice thing to go through docs thought i had a m/c dec 2013 but said to treat it as a heavy period xx

Neither me nor my oh knew anything about our family histories, we are both from families who don't discuss that sort of thing. We did ok on our own questions though haha.

I had also had bloods and ultrasounds and I had to have all those tests repeated in more detail, different people did the scans so I suppose they might pick up on different issues. I thought it was a bit odd at the time having to have them done again. Hsg is where they pump dye up your foof and xray it to check uterus and tubes etc. Not that pleasant I might add but not as horrific as I thought it was going to be.

haha fair enough i suppose i'll have to wait and see doc, ive been having tests done for pcos. what would show up on cd5 scan? x

Yes should do. Cysts do come and go in a very short space of time though so they can show loads one scan then be gone on the next or vice versa. My scans have all been covered in cysts though so no doubt there. They should also scan your kidneys too if they see signs of pcos as it can also affect them.

wow didn't know that x i know on one scan i had a cysts on my left ovary which had bled my testosterone came back raised so now waiting on my next scan...its strange as im not overweight i only weigh 10 stone x

Pcos doesn't care what weight you are, in the past it was believed that you had to be overweight to have it but this is not true, there are lots of normal and underweight ladies with pco too. It could of course also be something totally different too. Hope you get some answers :)

Hope everything goes ok with your appointment, think snowbee has pretty much covered the bits & bobs for general 1st appointments and if you have any more questions etc pop over to us in the long term section x
