Infections???

After leaving a pee sample with my consultant it came back that i had a urine infection and i was given a 5 day course of antibiotics... Is 5 days enough to clear the infection?? I didn't even know i had it as i had no symptoms. I've now got it into my head that 5 days was not enough and i still have the infection

I think either 5 or 7 days is pretty standard for a course of anti-biotics, depending on what you are taking. If you're still worred after taking the course you can always take a sample to your surgery and ask a nurse to do a dip-stick test thing and make sure the infection is gone, or get your MW to check instead xxx

i always get given 5 days but it never clears hope it s not the case 4 u xx

Hey, I was prone to infections a few years back and a few times I had to repeat my course of antibiotics cos it didn't clear. If you're still having symptoms make sure your GP knows so u can get it sorted as soon as possible, but hope that's not what it is and that its just sensitive down there due to the pregnancy!xxxx

When I have them I always get symptoms - peeing constantly but it always feels like there's more pee to come out which can't (kind of like being constipated but with pee lol) also it can sting and makes my eyes water! Also sometimes there's blood when I wipe. Not nice at all xxxx

i always feel i need wee have done before pregnancy n more so now lol. ive not had the stinging or the blood though. i did find that i went for a ee about 11:30 last night and my side hurt bad for a bit xx

Yea that's actually another thing I got, pains in my sides but I think I've only ever had that with them once or twice xxxx

I had similar sort of thing!

When I went for my 12 week scan, and I saw the MW tuesday just gone, she told me my bloods werent back and that I had a suspect UTI - The hospital didn't even tell her I had one!!!! OR me!!! I was FUMING!

So I had to do a re-sample so waiting on results of that!

I got it ALOT before I was pregnant, bleeding with wee and everything, agony!
I get it a bit now, but it's more just the stingy feeling when I wee, and sometimes feel like a constipated wee too .

But mw said it's quite common to get them while pregnant as baby presses down on your bladder and when you go, you sometimes can't get it all out due to position of baby!

I think my baby must have been jumping on my bladder last night cos I must have went to the toilet at least 7 or 8 times in the night lol. Its a very different feeling to the urine infection though, thankfully I don't think I've had one this pregnancy yet. Although I have had thrush, lovely lol xxxx
