Infant Gaviscon..

Back to docs this morning and he has given me infant gaviscon for lara - she has begun to regurgitate after every feed and was worried it may be reflux..

anyone else used infant gaviscon for their LO's??? Does it help with this or is it just the doc being quick to prescribe something as so many docs seem to be these days..????

i didnt think much of gaviscon tbh,
all it does is thicken the milk so its not see easy for LO to bring back up, but al this result in was Harley crying and crying as he needed to be sick but it was coming out real thick and clumpy instead.

give it a go though i no a few people it has worked for.
if it dont help there are stronger things that can be given, but most docs dont like to give it.

What is Lara like with reflux? is it causing her pain or is it just alot of sick?
is she putting on weight ok?

 

We used this, and like Dionne, I didn;t think much to it. It didn't really thicken the milk like it was apparently supposed to. I think they give it out a bit quicker than reflux meds incase it's just a touch of baby heartburn.

Give it a go and see how she gets on, if it doesn't work, the stuff you need to be asking for (if it is definately reflux) is usually a combination od Domperdione and Ranitidine, although we didn't get these without seeing a paediatrtion first.

I didn't like it, didn't seem to work for Stanley, but as we were on formula we had the option of switching to another which worked great

thanks everyone.. Lara has always regurgitated a bit of milk after each feed but recently its alot more... my health visitor just said its cos she has had too much milk..?? Lara doesn't seem to be in any pain.. she just burps and gurgles and the milk comes out either of those ways... she does suffer from wind but usually sorted out with some more burps etc...

don't really want to give her the gaviscon every feed so will try it a few times a day and see if it does make any difference.. doc said it could be just her age.. stomach adjusting etc.

Dionne.. yes lara is gaining weight.. following her own line on her graph [she was only 6lbs 5oz at birth and is now 10 7 at 13 weeks]

Yes muslins are a must with a sickly baby!! Hope the Gaviscon settles her a bit.

its good then she is putting on the weight then thats how Harley was, always sick loads but was not in pain ect. so i just put up with it. just loads of sick

some babies can be in bad pain with it too. Dior was like that and also was not putting the weight on..

but try Lara with the gaviscon no harm in trying, but if its no good for her just put up with the sick for now it does pass. harley is only sick a lil now
