for 7th Feb.. so next Thursday at 6.45pm :(
midwife tried to do a sweep again but my cervix is still high and closed :(

any chance of it changing so I don't have to be induced???

Hon, I know how you feel, I sobbed after getting my induction date :(

Whatever happens, look on the bright side, lil' Leah's gonna be here for definite in a little more than a week! :D

Awww    As Matt said, a week is a long time, anything can happen. I have just read something on the net about evening primrose oil being good for stimulating prostaglandins...however, it is from the net and I am not medically trained....it might be worth checking with your midwife if you were going to try it.

Evening primrose oil is an excellent source of prostaglandins, which we already determined readies your cervix for labor. It can be taken orally as soon as 34 weeks, and can be applied directly to the cervix at full term (36 weeks). The general recommendation is two 500mg
capsules per day until week 38, at which time you increase to 3-4 per day. The entire capsule can be inserted vaginally (inserted just before bed, it will dissolve before the first time you wake to use the bathroom), or you can use the oil on your fingers for your perineal massage, then also rub on your cervix (assuming you can reach it). Applying directly to the cervix is optimal, but the beneficial ingredients are absorbed through the external skin or the stomach also.

heyyyyy!!

Dont be too down..we had this convo the over day didnt we..i know its awful and i felt exactly the same but like MattM said a lot can happen in a week...the thought of it brought me on :D just think you will be a mummy in a week!! How exciting

   Despite the horror stories about induction, I found that being induced wasn't any worse than going naturally! In fact both labours were the same length!

Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee  hehe

A friend of mine was told by the midwife to have sex with his (overdue) wife three times a day to try and coax her into labour. It worked after a few days.

Personally, I would have asked for that on a prescription. You know. Proof. Doctors orders. Etc.

Just because it's booked and you have a date doesn't mean that you aren't gonna go before

I was devastated when I had to be induced, I had my sweep on the Wed and the mw booked me in on the Fri, I had to beg for her to at least give me over the weekend to see if I could go myself. So a week is ages and as everyone else has said, a lot can happen in a week

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that Leah doesn't want to wait another week as well

thanks for the replies everyone..

Leahs happy and healthy... I'm healthy... so that's all that matters :D :D :D

Interesting tip above about the evening primrose...off to get some today! My induction has been booked for tomorrow..with all the complications Ive been having the docs have decided to go for delivery at 38 weeks. Had a membrane sweep myself yesterday...and some possible water leakage..but can't be sure what is going on.

The main thing is that you and baby are well. Good luck with everything!

at least you know the latest date labour will start. the whole way through the preg i wanted to know the last possible day!!

I agree with everyone above a week is a long time, she could start to arrive any day :D

I have also heard about the evening primrose oil, i think Happy chick might have done it but not 100% sure on that.

Also Raspberry leaf tea? have you tried that??

I know how you feel, all my pregnancies i have been given an induction date and generally started a day or so before the date, my induction is booked for 5th feb with this one though and i really think i may not do it naturally before.

I have heard good and bad about inductions so i'm not so worried about it now as i was with my first and the good thing is that because this is your 1st you have nothing to compare it too.

A lot can happen in a week, you can start efacing, dilateing and thinning without even feeling it so in a few days you may be in a different position. Is there any way you can get another sweep done in a couple of days?? if so i'd try and get one every 48 hours, if your cervix is changing it might just be enough to help you out.

sending you laods of 'natural labour vibes'

Being induced is not really much diferent from having to be helped along when you go into labour naturally but are not progressing. I had to have the drip to bring on my contractions stronger and I had to have my waters broken. I had a show, some contractions, got to the hospital and they did the rest tbh. I was also booked in for an induction but started myself the day before I was due to go in. I was also birthing partner for a friend who had an induction and although it was pretty fast and furious that isn't how everybody responds to it. All our bodies are diferent so don't worry about it till it happens and don't try and imagine what will happen because nothing is ever how you imagine it to be.

:D

awwww kimbo im sorry u didnt get the news u wanted  but like every one says a week is a long time.

go book urself a reflexology appointment, hell if it dont work u have a nice foot rub to relax you :rotfl:

Yeah, a week is a long time Kim and I reckon there is a good chance you will pop before then.

Try not to feel down about it. Like you said, both you and Leah are healthy and that really is the main thing :)

Sending you loads of labour dust - hopefully things will happen naturally in the next week so you don't have to be induced.
