Im not allowed a 12 week scan :(

I was taken into hospital on friday and they did an emergency scan the following morning which makes me 9 weeks and 4 days. I just recieved a letter through this morning saying that i now wont be having a 12 week scan as iv already had one i was really looking forward to seeing how much it had grown.
so now im really gutted

that is not very nice of them! I mean 3 weeks is a long time. Though don't some people have their dating scans as early as 10 weeks?

That's really awful, the 12 week scan shows so much more than a 9 week scan would. Maybe try and contact your MW and see if she can do anything about it for you.

I am in the same position I had a scan at 9+3 and now dont get a 12 weeks scan (I told them from the beginning that I was not as pregnant as they thought I was!)

I have been waiting for the 12 week scan so that I can tell everyone and now I will be telling people without really knowing if things are ok

I might book myself in for a private scan to save the worry.

I had a scan done privately at 9 weeks and I'm too scared to tell the midwife in case they wont let me have a 12 week one. Think I might keep it quiet just in case. Bloody ridiculous!

I think its really sad the wont let people have one if the had one 3 weeks or more before.

I had one at 5 weeks with Oli and then at 12.

i might think about booking a private one then? how much are they?
they've said my next scan wont be until im 22 weeks that means a whole 12 weeks without another scan. i do think its a bit harsh, if it was them who was pregnant im sure they wouldnt agree with that.

That's a shame hun, I had an early one at 9 weeks as wasn't sure of my dates, but they still made an appointment for me to come back for a 12 week one at 13 weeks. Surprising really as the NHS are stingy up here, don't get any more scans after the 12 week one

I would try and talk to your midwife about it, if still no joy then try and get a private one done. They are expensive - I'm paying £150 for a Nuchal Scan this week. I could have just a viability scan for £100, It's Harley St though, might be cheaper other parts of the country. For me, it's worth the cost to ease my mind. I won't tell the NHS midwife about it though - they have me booked in for my 12 week scan at 14 weeks!! And I don't even see the midwife until 13 weeks. So you're not the only one having these sorts of problems!!

they don't realise that seeing a scan at that stage is so important because you dont feel them moving and don't have a big bump- it certainly helped it all seem real to me and was a big relief because you dont really know whats going on inside yet (as i said no movements etc).

actually the hospital are taking the piss (excuse the french). You are entitled to a scan at 12 weeks. Quote the NHS charter at them. 12 week scan is a NUCHAL scan and so is vital. A Nuchal scan cannot be performed earlier.

Although I work as a massage therapist now in my previous life (ok so 10 years ago) I worked in Welfare Law. I'd be happy to call on your behalf and point out the error of their ways. If they want to argue Human Rights Law with me I'd quite enjoy kicking their butts.

What? That's horrible. I can't even believe it. They need to check the development of the baby at 12 weeks to ensure that all is going well. Surely not all organs, bones etc are developed at 9 weeks. I would call them if I were you and tell them about my concerns and worries.
