Morgan has a really nasty sounding cough and Im working myself up thinking it could be something sinister

I wantto go to the GP tomorrow but I always leave feeling a fool. And we've been loads recently, hes only been off antibitics for tonsilitis a week and now hes sick again.

His breathing is rattly, and he coughs really badly and sometimes it makes him cry. His voice comes and goes and hes had a very mild temp 37.6 and sometimes in normal range.

He keeps being sick, and I mean full blown throwing everything up, we've :roll:had to dismantle the high chair to bleach it twice this weekend.

My bigest concern is that when he had tonsilitis he went off milk and food, understandably and we only just got him back up to the 7oz feeds he usually has and the past couple of days we're lucky if he takes half of that. Hes really constipated, its amazing how red he goes when he tries to poo and theyre like stones in his nappy. And today his fontanelle was sunken and hes sleeping more than usual.

So what do you think? and what should I be looking out for? Is this just what happens when babies get colds?

Considering he has been ill and has recently finished the antibiotics I would take him back, especially if he is getting temps - a temp is a temp, meaning that the body is fighting something. Coupled with his symptoms I would get him checked. They wont mind because he has been ill recently. Dont ever feel bad for taking him again, hope he is ok xxxx

Yeah he took 2oz of water today. He's not really bothered, I think he's lost his appetite.

Does sound like it could be bronchiolitis, but I might just see that everywhere! The mild temp, cough, rattling and off food were how cian started. I'd get him checked but u know I am a paranoid mummy!!
At the end of the day, the way one doctor told me, they would rather see a baby who just had a cold, than one who was really Ill and needed more help. All they can say is no, and reassure u!
Xx

I totally agree with Leanne, sounds very like it to me as well :(

Id take him even If its just to put your mind at rest. poor little man hope he's ok xx

Thanks girls. We got an appointment at 10am. His nappy was only slightly damp this morning and after 12 hours its usually saturated  I got him up and gave him water, he took 2 oz and half a pot of petit filou and threw up everywhere. Still offering the water but he doesnt want it.

The plus side is that with no appetite is that he slept all night. Every cloud.

Aww hun. Stress to them how little he's taking, coz thaw y I originally took cian to the doctors, ony while I was waiting I registered his breathing! Lol was a bit away with the fairies. Let us know how it goes! X

Thanks I will def do that then. He took 5oz milk at 9 and I was so pleased then he threw it all back over me and the sofa. Can't believe we made it here on time! Just waiting to be called in now.

Oh goodness me, Dr's can be real shits for dismissing your concerns. I hope you get some help this morning, hugs for LO!

Right we're home. He checked him over and he said the base of his lungs are clear so its viral. He has a temp but doc didnt want to give antibiotics so soon after his last course. About the dehydration he advised that LO could be lactose intollerant (this is the same doc who told me babies cant be lactose intollerant cos theyre too young :wall:) He said sometimes when theyre ill their symptoms get worse cos their body cant cope with it as well.

So his suggested action. No milk, only clear fluids for 2 days and if I MUST give him milk dilute it by half. Im feeling a bit nervous about not giving him any milk. I asked about getting a lactose free milk and he said if he starts throwing up again when we reintroduce after 2 days then he'll prescribe some. Im not sure about him having no milk when his body is trying to fight off the virus. Wont that make him weaker?

I would have thought so... Tho apparently as long as they et some fluids it's okay... To be honest, I would prob ignore the doc and try giving him v small amounts, ie one ounce, frequently.
Lol I'll take mine to docs, but f I don't agree I just ignore them. Re lactose intolerant, ur gp sounds like a bit of a plonker!

I'd say def still keep an eye on Morgan. Bronchioltis is viral, so nothing docs can do, just make sure his breathing/rattle doesn't get worse. Even tho they can't do anything, doesn't mean they can't help if needs be.
Don't worry about taking him docs hun. It's what they r there for. U know ur baby. Xx

Ive been trying to get them to agree that hes lactose intollerant since he was 3 weeks old. We ended up paying out for lactose reduced milk and enzyme drops out of our overdraft cos noone would acknowledge there was a problem.

Jesus. What a palaver!
Sorry Hun, I don't really know anything about it, what Is lactose intolerance exactly? And how would u know if a lo has it? X

he throws up all the time and had really bad colic but all day, and never did that knees up thingy that everyone talks about. Lactose intollerance is where you cant digest dairy products.

Jesus. That sucks. Hopefully ul get the other milk x

Just caught up here - don;t worry about giving him just water, he has reserves and babies of this age are more resilient than you think. I hope that it eases off and his vomiting stops, these things are so worrying. I remember Rosie having something similar and couldnt keep anything down, we had to force feed her Dioralyte via a syringe as she was dehydrated, I dont think she was as young as Morg though.

I feel like a proper shit friend, not keeping up to date on this forum :flower: x
