Please help! My baby always slept on back no probs! The last month he has taken to sleeping on his side and likes to be put down this way but last few nights he has started to sleep on his tummy!! I hate it (yes u can laugh) I'm not getting any sleep checking on him and I try roll him back onto side, which results in him either waking up or rolling back! I know way back when they used to say to put them to sleep on tummy! But I'm worried as little one turns head into mattress! Is this ok? He won't suffocate? By now is he strong enough to move his head if he can't breathe?! Sorry I'm such a worrier xx

It's proper scary isn't it at first! I always go by if they're string enough to roll, they're strong enough to move their heads if needs be! You should see the crazy positions mine get into noe' I even found one of them stuck under her bed the other morning

 hiya, My DS has always slept on his tummy, only way he would. The SIDS advice is if they can roll the risk is greatly reduced because they will likely move about even a little in their sleep. I reassured myself by being mindful of the other advice, like keeping the temperature cooler and not having cot bumpers to avoid stagnant air. I think it's a natural worry, but you'll feel more comfortable with it over time.

Isla does the same, she prefers her belly and sleeps for ages like this. She's getting clever now and knows that she can sit up from her front! It's scary but you have to go with it. Xx

It is scary at first Hun, Tegan started doing it when she was about 5 months old and has slept on her tummy nearly every night since! xx

Hiya, zac has slept on his tummy since he learned to roll. I think as long as they can roll back it's fine. If you are really worried it might be worth investing in a sensor pad monitor? X

Lizzie can't roll back yet so starts crying after getting 'stuck' on her front so I always wedge her in between rolled up blankets to sleep on her side, my cot looks crazy lol :)

I think at 8m he'll be fine xx It is scary though isn't it.
Oscar has only just doing it, but he sleeps so much better x

I know some will disagree, but I have more peace of mind when she's wedged in like this than when she's on her front :)

Thanks all! You've put my mind at rest! I had a better night last night and he seems to switch betwee
Front and back just fine!! X
Awww Becky that's sooooo cute! I think that's a good idea, but I'm sure Aiden wouldn't rest until he'd pulled at the blankets etc xx
