I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but it's getting my hubby in a bit of a panic so I thought I'd post before I bother calling maternity ward or anything

Over the last week or so my stomaches been constantly hard and puffed up, baby has dropped low, I've been getting back ache, occasional period cramping pains and a supressed appetite and wake up 1-2 times a night desperate for the loo. The skin on my tummy has been gradually getting more and more tender and what I originally though was a burn from hot oil whilst cooking eggs in a pan turns out to be a super sensative stretch mark right above my belly button.

Well as of about 5pm yesterday I was in agony with a really bloated stomach, super sensative skin, tummy ache, ended up pulling a muscle in my chest bending over to pick something up as well  and ended up going to bed at about 830pm. Woke up several times in discomfort and stomach pain but was determind to sleep through it  at about 11.30 I just couldn't take it and had to wake up and get a drink because I was REALLY thristy. Paced around a bit and took some paracetomol. Was determined it was probably just wind but nothing would settle it.

Snacked on a bag of crisps and a carrot as that was all I could manage to eat since about lunch time and went back to bed at 12.10am-ish. Woke up about 3 times bursting for a wee but when I went there was hardly anything there  and still really bloated and sore.

Felt like that this morning but the back pain had eased off so it was only pressure at the front. Decided to go to work and just take some more paracetomol. Didn't see the difference between sitting on the sofa at home and sitting at my desk at work  Plus I finish foir maternity on friday so shouldn't be skiving off

(I have a cusion behind by back and a raised foot rest at work.) I had my first noticable BH's during the first hour of work and was debating coming home after all if I didn't feel well soon as they were fairly strong considering. Through out the day have had another 2-3 paracteomol....been picking at some fruit and biscuits.....made SEVERAL trips to the toilet which is unlike me  and yes I'm still uncomforatble but it's been easing off over the day - although back ache is now slowly replacing bloated tummy

Baby has been moving around all day (very restricted compaired to last week - he must ahve run out of room!) so I know he's ok but after my last trip to the loo I have had about 30mins of a horrible 'popping' and bubbling sensation in my pelvis and lady bits and bump has been wriggling quite a lot  So I'm not sure where he's off too LOL!!!!

I'm sure this is all normal but hubby is really worried so thought I'd see what you guys reckon :D
I've never been as bad as this all at once before - it just suddenly came on yesterday.

HI hun,

Id give the hospital a ring to see what they think. You wouldnt be bothering them, thats why they are there. Is the top of your bump by your ribs tender or is it all over. Especially if it has been happening for a while. Id ring them hun.

yeah i agree if you feel worried just give them a call. the popping and stuff you described it sounds like when the baby moves down/is engaging more- i remember getting really bad pains in my lady area and feelings of pressure..sounds about right as you said your bump has dropped, also the tender skin and stretchmarks, i only got this at the end because as the baby moves down its stretching areas that haven;t yet been stretched..baby is now moving to a new area and it is a lot bigger so its not been stretched like this through the rest of pregnancy. My skin felt sore too...remember lots of cream/bio oil!

I agree with the others - would def call your midwife, some of what you describe sounds like the pain/discomfort like I had when baby was engaging/dropping but also sounds slightly like you could possibly have a urinary tract infection.......

3rd tri is supposed to be majorly uncomfortable but it sounds like it's rather a bit more uncomfortable for you right now than it should be hun......

Let us know how you get on.

C xxx

You are a fully fledged member of tri 3 by the sounds of it, pain discomfort and general uncomfyness is our badge of honour!!

 Yeah I thought as uncomfortable as it was it was probably just part and parcel of 3rd tri :talkhand:

The burning skin is really getting to me now though :( I'm itchy practically all over and now the back of my hips are starting to burn as well as the front of my tummy :(

Legs and stomach swollen but baby moving around plenty and pain/discomfort tollerable for now.

I might ring maternity unit and ask about the UTI though as I'm not seeing MW for a full week.

My ribs are a bit sore...that's a recent development today. I can't feel feet in them but they do feel like their brusied at the sides and I've never had any rib pain before. He generally kicks to the front or to the sides

Hey again,

I would really recommend you call the local maternity ward today for advice hun, itching skin needs to be taken really seriously in 3rd tri. Are your hands/ legs/ feet itchy at all?

I had a similar thing about a month ago and the hospital asked me to come in as soon as I called them as there is a condition associated with itching (Obstetric Choleostasis -see post at top of 3rd tri forum) that is pretty serious.

I don't mean to panic you, but If it's causing you as much discomfort as you sound like it is I would really just make a quick call now.......

Hi hun

Well between posting and seeing your message I rang my MW who's phone was off (not on duty) so I rang NHS direct.
Nurse there ran through loads of questions and pretty much said the same thing "it could be something or nothing but there IS a condition that can make you really itchy that needs monitoring - as well as many other reasons, and if you don't normally get so much pain all at once then that could be something or nothing as well" so she told me to ring maternity ward.

Just spoke to a lady there who advised to go in tonight whenever I can get transport (bloody hubbies doing over time and I don't get paid until midnight so I'm stuffed for getting to the hospital until him and his bank card come home :wall:  ) and they'll take a blood sample and just put a trace on bubs heart - just to double check everythings fine.

Feel like a right drama queen
But NHS direct lady advised me that when she was pregnant she rang labour ward all the time  and that most things in pregnancy could be "something or nothing" so was worth checking out.

Hey,

Glad you called them, they are really great on the maternity ward and don't make you feel like a timewaster even if everything is ok (which I'm sure it is), they would much rather check you and bubby over so do make sure you get there when the hubby gets home. Do you have a family member that could maybe run you down so it's not so late?

I had a CTG (trace on baby heart and movements) some blood tests for liver bile acids, and the usual wee, BP checks etc when I had the same symptoms as you and was urged by the ladies here to go get checked out as my middy is pants......in the end I had a mild UTI which they gave me antibiotics for and the skin problem was caused by an allergy which they prescribed me piriton for.....it was so nice to just get a good nights sleep with no itching, pain, burning skin, feeling like tummy skin was going to split etc!!!

And most importaintly it put my mind at ease!

Look after yourself, let us know how the hosp goes!!

hi hun..... you're due the same day as me and you've just described pretty much how I've been feeling for the past week or so.

This is going to be a bit TMI but here goes.... I had cronic bloating and a really painful bump for about 4 days last week. Couple that with the period pains and backache I was getting I was convinced that labour was just around the corner. Turns out that after about 5 days of being in pain I did the biggest, longest and loudest fart you've ever heard   and now I don't feel too bad at all!! I'm assuming it was just a lot of trapped wind. I've been trumping like a trooper now for the past 3 days and my tummy doesn't feel anywhere near as tight as it did and it's not painful at all anymore.

Wierdly, since I got rid of the wind my period pains and backache have gone away too!!!

Well I haven't had a massive 'release' or owt like that :rotfl: but although I'm still bloated and firm - I don't feel like my skin is going to split anymore   and have managed to eat quite a bit so far today.

Went to hospital at 9.30pm yesterday and finally got home again at around 1am  They had a good old prod, tested urine, BP, took blood and did tests on site and put a trace on bubs. Everything is normal
I've just got 'pregnancy itch' but because it's driving me mad and giving me sore skin they have given me some anti-hystamine (sp?) tablets and told me to use camamine lotion. It could be an allergic reaction thats devleoped which will go after I've had the baby but since it's obviously soemthing I come into contact with every day there's no telling if it's the cats, the washing powder, the milk in my cup of tea etc etc

They're trying to make an appoimtment for me to go back in on monday to the anti-natal for a check up and I've already got an appointment to see my own midwife on wed :D

So glad everything is ok, but was better to safe xx take care

Glad everything went ok hun....

Always better safe than sorry and your itching should subside after a few days on the antihistamines.......

Try switching to a non bio washing powder too if you dont use one already.

Cleo xxx

Thanks guys

I already use non bio and a fabric softner because i have fairly sensetive & dry skin but when we went shopping recently they didn't have the areil ones i normally get so hubby put persil consentrate (non bio) in - so i will try using this and see if it's anything to do with the brand.
