Not sure im posting in the right place...

In 2014 we had our son, hes now 18m old and we've been trying for 7mnths to fall pregnant again. With him it happened straight away. I'm 39 now - how long would u leave it before speaking with a doctor ?

Xx

I would leave it another 5 months till you have been trying for a year. There's not much advantage to going earlier, i.e. before your 40th birthday, as you won't qualify for fertility treatment on the NHS.

Hi Melanie, I was wondering the same thing as you, I was 39 when I conceived baby no.1 and this happened really quickly, im now 40 and ttc number 2, im only on month 3, think im being impatient as it happened quickly first time but Im going to leave it 6months before I speak to someone as I don't want to leave things too late x

I would go now as the NHS recommends that you see your GP after 6 months of trying if you're over 35. Unfortunately whether they'll actually do anything depends on the rules in your CCG as they actually fund any treatment but it's worth finding out xx

hi girls, i stumled upon the same opinion- after 12 months of trying if you are younger than 35, and 6 months of trying if you are 35+

Well it's now been 9 months, decided to try til Xmas.. 2 more cycles (I'm in the 2WW now).. so we'll see I guess.

Thanks all xx

So glad I read this. I'm 37 now, had my first baby in 2014 and caught on first month. Been trying now since late last year and nothing. Feeling disheartened and thinking all sorts!

Hi, Melanie)

I believe that you must see your fertility specialist and find out why you can`t conceive the second baby. My husband and I faced second infertility when I was 35. I had a successful pregnancy in 2012, dd was born healthy and happy. In september 2013 we decided to have number 2 and nothing happened. Infact in the spring of 2013 my period disappeared. I was convinced it was due to wedding stress. Finally I saw a DR who diagnosed my pcos. He prescribed some hormonal pill which I should take 2 months. He assured that it will help to conceive but nothing had happened. Our fertility gave up and said that we should go IVF treatment. At the same time we knew that we couldn’t afford IVF treatment. Later my hubby and I decided that it would be better to visit another country for the IVF treatment. Thus we decided to deal with one of the Ukrainian clinics where 5 IVFs rounds cost around 30k euros. We got a free consultation from biotexcom`s experts and decided to undergo IVF there. Our first attempt was failed. There was a mess in my head at that time. I questioned myself every day whether I chose the right place. Guess what? We succeeded with the second attempt. We didn’t expect that it worked. In feb 2015 I received a positive pregnancy test. It was the best feeling in my life. As a result, I delivered strong and healthy brother for our family.

So, don’t hesitate to see a fertility expert

Good Luck)
