I kept seeing magpies this morning and it got me thinking.

Do you care about stuff like that?

D you count magpies?
Do you walk under ladders?
Cross on the stairs?
Throw salt over your shoulder?

I count magpies - but normally just for fun. Lol. And I say 'good morning Mr. Magpie' lol

I cross on the stairs.

I don't walk under ladders but that's not superstition, i'm just a wuss

I throw salt over my shoulder but i'm not sure why really... lol. I once broke a mirror and my mum made me feel better by getting me some salt to throw over my shoulder... LOL not sure that that's quite how it works. Though tbh i was just sad because i liked that mirror!

I don't think I really believe any of it.

Good question!

I would say im 50/50. I dont walk under ladders, i do look for magpies. Im not bothered about blackcats though as there lucky  I also avoid the 3 drains too.
Actually i found this link if anyones interested.

British Superstions

I don't walk under ladders or walk over 3 drains either, if I walk over them without noticing I have to walk backwards saying mushrooms mushrooms mushrooms...i don't know why, I think somebody told me that when I was a kid haha!

I voted 'a little' but tbh I think mines more a touch of OCD than being superstitious

I pinch my collar, say "Good morning Mr Magpie" and spit over my shoulder, well I don't spit I just pretend  Obviously when I see a magpie(s)

I also count them...1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, etc

I wouldn't walk under a ladder but not because I'm superstitious, just because I don't want a pot of paint in my head!

I do have one thing though which really creeps me out, I'm sure I actually do jinx myself. I can guarentee if I say something like "Isaac never has me up in the night" You can bet your life that night he'll have me up. The other day when we were talking about telling other peoples children off and I said Isaac was good as gold and I could take him anywhere, well a few days later I had to bring him home from Play centre because he was being a bit naughty! This happens to me ALL the time, and I mean ALL the time, Sod's law? coincidence? I think its something spooky myself  Seriously I do

Magpies are my only thing although i dont count them,
I salute them and say "Hello Mr Magpie hows the wife and family"

i count magpies and salute and if i only see one then i'm crapping it the rest of the day

i don't walk under ladders - mainly for the fear they are giong to fall on me

Don't cross on the stairs - no way :talkhand:

Yes I throw salt over my shoulder.

Also, if i put an item of clothing on inside out by accident, i turn around 3 times before changing it :rotfl:

And if i bang my elbow, I bang the other one to even it out

If my nose itches then i tell the first person I see, or whoever i'm with at the time to p!ss off

And i don't throw bread in the bin - bad luck apparently

I feel so free from all that mumbo jumbo! I so easily could get pulled in but it would take over my whole day.

Touch wood I stay this way!

LOL @ some of you guys! Love the "mushrooms mushrooms mushrooms"... a sign of a misspent youth perhaps ;)

I just remembered I always "touch wood" if it's appropriate.

ME TOO! Yesterday i mentioned for the first time that Fi had slept through for 8 nights running - a record.
And yet she woke in the middle of last night.

Oh and if i put my sock on outside in i have to leave it that way or its bad luck

Oh God I amstupidly supersticious. I can't walk over three drains, have to salute magpies then count them, throw salt, won't walk under ladders. The list goes on and on.

I like black cats though and the number 13.

I guess I'm really superstitious! If I walk over 3 grids I say 'bread and butter' as I step on each one. When I see a magpie I say 'hello mr magpie, how's your wife and children?' then someone has to slap my hand and break my sorrow. If I'm alone I salute and say my little verse under my breath :rotfl:

Won't cross on the stairs at home but it's hard not to in school/shopping centres etc. A black cat crossing my path is lucky, I touch wood as a way to send fate the other way.

I do have loads, but that'll do for now before everyone thinks I'm a crack pot :rotfl:

 Freaks

Im not superstitious at all. My friend is and i pee myself laughing at some of the things she does. In a way i find a lot of the superstitious things very sad, it can seriously take over peoples lives!

I voted not at all! As a Christian I tend to trust God in everything I do! So supersticious beliefs like walking under a ladder etc. con't scare me at all.

I....

Salute magpies
Cannot walk over three drains (thats such a random one!)
HATE the number 13
Throw salt over my shoulder if I spill it (therefore creating even more mess!)

i always salute magpies, well i used to untill i thought to myself what am i doing its a bird how on earth can that mean ur guna get bad luck lol but i still sometimes do it :rotfl: :rotfl: i dnt walk unders laders not coz i think its bad luck mostly coz its likely to b more akward to go under than around it, i never really believed in the old 3 drain thing. One thing i wont do is if i put my underwear on inside out i wont change it untill the next day lol and one last thing im always extra carefull on friday the 13th (theres one in feb) i dont no why but my mum always says its just another day no different to thursday the 13th lol :rotfl: :rotfl: and its sooo true but i just cnt help myself lol

my nan said the reason y u throw salt over your shoulder is to blind the devil. but she always only did it if she spilt salt in the first place *sarcastic tone of voice* apprently spill salt makes the devil apear behind your left shoulder lol

I will always salute a magpie if I see only one & I also will not walk under a ladder. Its funny because I am sure nothing would happen should I not do these things but its become a bit of a habit

Im sure the crossing on the stairs thing came from the a long time ago when the woman wore the big dresses with the full skirts so they had no room to cross on the stairs

I don't walk under ladders
Salute the magpie
Don't walk on 3 drains but 2 is good luck.
I throw salt if i spill salt.
touch wood (i always touch my head if no wood is available  )
