I just wondered how long the midwife was with you during your labour?

I felt very let down and abondoned with my labour as my midwife was rarely in the room and me and FOB were left on our own for basically the whole time, even during some of the pushing stage and while in recovery after the c-section.

So yeah, just wondered how often your midwives were with you and when they left you during your labour and if thats what you expected? :)

My midwife was awesome (sorry!) she was there almost the whole time, she left the room for a few minutes here and there when she needed to get something but other than that I couldn't get rid of her lol some midwives are just useless though and genuinely shouldn't be in tgat type of work :(

Mine was fab too - sorry.

Mind you I had a mamoth 42hr labour that went wrong at every stage! Once I was 4cms and wheeled into the delivery room my MW left the room for a maximum of 10 mins at the most. She even stayed an extra hour & 20mins after her shift and missed her children going to bed to see my baby boy be born! :) She also replaced herself with a stand in when she went for her breaks!!

Sorry you had a horrible one hun! :( x

With Lacey she was hardly there. Kept popping in around every 45mins. I was only at hospital 3 hours before I gave birth so hardly saw her.
With charley she never left as I was already fully dilated and ready to push when I got to the hospital!

I had a midwife just popping in for first couple of hours as the midwife led unit was busy but as soon as the on call midwife arrived she was with me all the time (she didn't have a choice I didn't let her leave lol)

once i was on the labour ward we were never left, if she had 2 leave someone else always came in to cover her until she was back, she was great aswell, we were very lucky! x

I arrived at hospital 10cm dilated, so MW didnt have time to go anywhere!

mine was whith us the whole time.. although i was 6cm when we got ther and gave birth 2 and a half hours later! Midwife popped out of the room once or twice to get stuff but we also had a student too so we were never alone... i didn't think they should leave you alone should they?

Thats fab that so many midwives were so good :)

I was curious because me and FOB were discussing it last night and he was surprised when I said I thought midwives were supposed to be there most of the time. Im looking at my notes soon and think Ill probably ask why she wasn't in the room more often.

Mine was with us basically all the time, she had a student aswell so if she had to go anywhere the student stayed or she got another midwife to come in with us! I had a few complications though so don't think they could leave us on our own! xx

When I was in stage one I was on antenatal so I was checked every few hours and left too it . From five cms onwards I was in a delievery room and was never left at all until I was back down to post- natal . But that could well have been because there was complications ?

THe midwives try NOT to be there all the time as they feel you will be more relaxed and have a better labour alone with your partner. I think if you want them there all the time you need to say. they usually pop in and out.

^^ I had one to one care cos of my blood pressure and one of the worst parts was that I was never alone with OH, I could never relax. Can you imagine trying to sleep with a stranger sitting on a stool right next to your head. AWKWARD!
