My NHS hospital is driving me mad!!!

Just how hard is it to get simple information these days?? As you know hubby and I went back on Tuesday for our follow up to be told that we will get referred to an IVF clinic. They did not have the book with the list of those 5 clinics. Aparently they do not have the funding to get the book, so they told me to ring them on Wednesday. I called them and after leaving several messages a rather shirty receptionist gave me the list on the third attempt. I rang them again today as the list was not making any sense for example she said we could go to Oxford. When I asked what she meant by Oxford she just said Oxford?? Well that helps because there are probably a few bloody hospitals in Oxford!! Then it transpired that the list she gave me was wrong. That goes a mornings research out of the window, and I have only now just got the correct list.

The thing is, how on earth do they get this wrong? It is pretty important that they I get the right info and so we can do the right research and chose the best place for us. How many girls do they refer from this hospital every year?? judging by waiting lists it must be hundreds, and surely it is the same 5 hospitals so they should know this.

Then everyone asks me why I paid private for all of the investigations!!! I wonder why?

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Rant over

    Gizz xx

    Gizzy,

I have had one appointment with my specialist and thus far I have encountered the following:

    1) Sent for bloods on wrong cycle day
    2) Booked for scan on wrong cycle day
(specialist knew full well what cd I was on as he'd just 5 minutes before taken all my info)

I've also spent nearly an hour trying to rebook said scan and my letter said the blood clinic [to take my aforementioned blood test on the right day] opens an hour before it actually does. I got up at 6am today for nothing and had to wait for ages and was late for work!!

To say I am not impressed is an understatement!

I sometimes worry that the NHS is a some kind of out of control monster!

    xxxxxxxxxx

It's crazy with what the nhs get away with, least you decoded to go private, that's what I did as could face being messed about by nhs ,was under Basildon but now go to the Nuffield in Brentwood and my consultant there use to wok work private part nhs but is now just private and when I asked why he said the state of the nhs and he can't help women as he should when at Basildon!
Good luck and hope you can get booked in soon at ivf clinic xx

    Thanks!

Blondy we need to get some blood tests done again which will take a few weeks so once the hospital get them they send the referral of to the clinic of our choice.

L84 - welcome to PF!!! Are you under Mr Haloob then? We decided to go to Southend Nhs rather than Basildon. What treatment have you had to date?

    Love Gizzy xxxx
