Morning Ladies & Babies,

We are looking to go abroad to Menorca next May - I've found a really nice AI hotel on the beach. It's not in a very touristy area though and I am a little worried about finding supplies for JJ when we are out there.

If anyone has had a similar experience, can you please share your knowledge / advice on the following:

Milk - he will be on cows milk then - what type do you buy, when in Spain - and is it normally readily available?

Nappies - obviously these will be available, but are the sizings the same? Or do they go by weight / age etc

I can bring nappies with me, if its going to be a problem, but I cant really bring milk with me!

Sorry if these seem like stupid questions, but I've never even been on holiday with babies / small children, so have no idea!

Thanks in advance xx

Hiya we went to Turkey when B was 11 months, although he wasn't drinking cows milk then he had it in his cereal and he was fine on it. Nappies I took a pack of 38 which was enough for the week - B only had about 4/5 nappy changes then a day. I brought wipes out there which were expensive but basically pampers.
With drinking water we brought massive bottles and boiled a kettle full to cool in the fridge over night for the next day.

B had his own 10kg luggage so that was really handy - worth paying extra if you don't get it included.

We'll hopefully go away next year (we considered it this year but I put together a mental list and the amount of stuff we'd have to take made me think better of it lol)

I think as the milk is pasturised it is fine, I'd pack maybe some "toddler milk" cartons just in-case.

I assume you'll hire a car so you'll be able to get to supermarkets in more touristy areas and they all normally do 'our' milk.

Im going in 4 weeks to tenerife. We are taking a tub if follow on aptamil. Nappies and wipes can be got there even though they are a bit more expensive. I had swim pants packed but I got a few pairs of reusable ones so they take up next to no room. Plan on taking some milton tablets for the bottles. My LO will be 11 months by then and she wont be on cow's milk but has it in foods. A friend of mine says she gave her baby cartons of nestle milk which is what the locals use and she was fine (14 months old). Think its the same as us using cartons for follow on. But im taking a tub incase. Xx

I've just been to Kos 2 weeks AI.

They have milk there but it's UHT so not fresh like we have here. I think this is similar across most of Europe. It's fine to drink I just don't like the taste of it personally.

They would fill beAkers up for us. Though tbh she doesn't drink much milk anymore at 16 months.

You can buy nappies out there but we found them very very expensive so took plenty with us. Same for wipes.

Take loads of toys is my main advice. I don't think ill be going again unless I take people with us like grandma etc because it was a lot of hassle. Or maybe I should amend my expectations lol. It was hard work!

Hey Chezza, you will find supplies easily, dont worry. We raise babies here too, lol ;)
Yes most milk is UHT, you will struggle to find fresh, although you can get it in bigger supermarkets. They do small cartons for kids, nestle and also a brand called Puleva, specially designed for babies and children. So no worries there.
Nappies are the same, Dodots are Pampers, and i am sure the sizes are the same, they say clearly on the front what weight the size is for, in kilos though ;) I dont think they are that expensive, but i know no different to be honest.
I think Spain is very child friendly, and you really can find everything you need in most supermarkets, just like the UK. Dont fear, just enjoy the holiday.

Thanks ladies!!

NikkiPortia - lol...I know, they sounded like silly questions :) It's just the resort we are going to isn't very touristy and we wont have our own car...I guess the only way to find out about supplies for sure is to do some proper research about the area.

I would just hate to get out there, having not taken many nappies, to find I cant get what I need!

Although...I am a born worrier...so perhaps I just need to chill out a little  xx

Best thing I took - ipad! Lots of fun (educational)! Apps and cartoons for the flight!

You will be able to get stuff hun, I'm 100% sure of that. They do have babies in spain ;)

Enjoy x

It will be better that its not touristy, the prices wont be hiked ;)
There will be supermarket for sure, just like the uk has tesco and morrisons everywhere, spain has carrefour, mercadona and dia, they are well stocked like the uk ones. We even have lidl and i just noticed an aldi being built near me, horaay!
So wherever you go, be assured of a supermarket and a farmacia pharmacy nearby, well, unless you are going out in the back of nowhere or up a mountain ;)

We're going in Sept. I asked all the same questions. W will be on cows milk, so I'm hoping to source some from a supermarket when we get there. I'm taking nappies but again they can be bought!
I felt a bit silly asking these questions too because Spanish people do have babies too :) haha

Yes Gayle I'll be expecting a full how to guide... Haha!

I am in turkey at the min and being honest I was worried about comming on holiday with a baby . Ruby is 18 months , since we have been here she has gone off her milk and will only have 1 5oz bottle at night times . I just asked in the supermarket which was the whole milk and they got it for me .

Nappies I brought 1 pack with me and the rest I have brought over here and I have found the sizes to be the same

Xxxx
