I wanted to ask a question, sorry if it sounds a bit gross! After hubby and I have BD'd, the sperm usually comes out again later in the day. I was worried that if I'm exercising and it comes out sooner, it won't have had the chance to swim to the right place. I know that some sperms get there in just a few minutes but others take 12 hours, so assume I've given them enough of a chance (!) but wondered if anyone else encountered this? :sperm:

I asked the doctor but he just laughed and said it doesn't hinder your chances. However I've found that ladies on this forum seem to have more accurate information about fertility than some of the specialists I've seen! :-?

I have read that laying down for 30 mins in sufficient in getting them where they need to be. The sperm swim off and its just semen that comes out later x

I worry about that too, but i think that lisey is right its just the other stuff that cums out!! So gross i know.

Michelle. x

Yeah I think once they're up there properly gravity doesn't affect them too much. If you're worried, maybe you could stay away from heavy exercise on your most fertile days? I always wonder about those little spermies when I see them escape later :p x

Thank you! That's good to know! I will try to avoid too much jumping around on certain days just in case! ;-)

I always thought this was normal for semen to come out later on in the day, we usually bed before going bed, that way they have all night to stay and swim up where they are supposed to be going and then all you have to do is have a shower or bath in the morning. I tend not to get up and about straight after sex, so relax and let it be lol

I am right in saying it is normal for semen to come out straight after your OH withdraws? Sorry to sounds disgusting lol

I always need the loo afterwards otherwise I can't sleep or need to go in the early hours which is annoying! I do try to lie down for a bit first though! If its in the morning I read in bed for 15 to 20 minutes.

It takes a few hours for ours to come out unless I trampoline then it comes out straight away!

I read that within 10 minutes they are up trhough your cervix and any that are still in your vagina are dead within 2 hrs anyway. Like the other ladies said its just the seminal fluid that comes back out and dead spermies.
Since there are millions of them I'm sure what comes out later is nothing to worry about and the strong ones are already in your tubes waiting for your egg to come out (if your cervix is open enough to let them in in the first place)

Yes that makes sense, if the cervix isn't open, then maybe that's when they come straight out, like bunnyhunny said.

I always worried about this too, I was looking at another forum ( a long time ago) and there was a whole thread on soft cups and there was a lot of bfps as a result of using them. I didn't feel that was for me though but just thought I would mention it. I think position can help target the spermies too and doggy style is said to be very effective.

I heard that too! Its not something that people really talk about is it?! I might try softcups if I don't want to miss my trampolining lesson! I'm glad to hear that 'doggy' is effective cos I thought missionary was best which can get a bit boring, and highlights whether we are doing it for fun or babies!

Oh! I head missionary wasnt all that effective but I suppose there are so many varied opinions.

Really? I suppose if you are horizontal all the time it makes it more difficult. :bd:Missionary propped up or tilting afterwards is probably better!

Or use a pillow under so you are more tilted anyway maybe?

I read it depends on the angle of your womb/cervix. If u always do missionary and are having no luck try doggy and vice versa Lol. Tell me if this is stupid but I'm thinking doggy would generally be more effective as that's the position humans always did while evolving (like all mammals). Therefore, the cervix would evolve to be accommodating to sperm from that angle? Ha x
