Hi ladies, my 3 year old knows how to use the potty and will do at home but then when she goes to nursery she is constantly having "accidents" despite the teachers constantly taking her to the toilet. They are now suggesting she is doing this on purpose. Need Help!!! xx

How long has she been trainin for hun? My daughters almost 3 and for a while has gone and sat on the potty when shes got nothing on, but as soon as you put something on her bottom half, she wees right thru it! I've also had a fair few times where she's sat on the toilet, got straight off and weed on the floor! It can be a really long drawn out process unfortunately! If it's only recently she's started training, maybe shes just still getting used to it! Sorry I've
Not really got any advice xx

Oh she knows exactly what its for and things she is really past the "training" stage as if we tell her she will get treats for using the potty then she goes. It just seems to be an issue at nursery. They took her to the toilet today at 9:30 and by 10am she had her first "accident" its just such a pain as she isnt daft and not particurlarly a naughty child x

Could she maybe be nervous of asking to go? I don't know the procedure at all, but maybe the nursery staff need to ask her a little more often? It's such a minefield isn't it?!

To be honest i think she is just being lazy, they are taking her even when she doesnt want to go. Just have no idea on how to rectify it. Im hoping my son doesnt follow in his sisters footsteps as i will be tearing my hair out lol x

Could she just be too busy?

AJ was having accidents up to twice a day but only at the childminder. Turns out he was so busy playing that he forgot, she'd take him and remind him and he would still do it.
After about 2 months it just stopped.

Hope you figure it out soon. x

Hi Charliebear, thats a possibilty i suppose! Hoping it stops soon. x

When I worked at the nursery we had this problem alot with the children (I worked in the preschool area) so in the end we set an alarm so every 15 minutes we would ask all the children if any of them needed to go the loo and you could see the improvement pretty much immeadiatly. Could you try asking your nursery to remind her every 15 minutes if she needs the loo? I really think it's just a case of her forgetting to go and being too excited while playing.

Well after she finished school yesterday she didnt have one accident at home. Teachers have said this morning they will take her every half hour today and see how that goes. It just makes you feel like you are doing something wrong :(

Youre not doing anything wrong  Its a big adjustement for them. If she still has accidents after being asked every half hour then ask them to do it every 15 minutes. They should do it as we had about 30 children and we just asked them all every 15 minutes because then the child didn't feel like they were being singled out. x
