DS is 7 months old and has started waking for an extra feed in the night. Could this be a growth spurt? I normally bf him 4 hourly but he tries to latch onto me more often at the mo. Should I feed him more in the day? Would that make him go longer at night? He is on 3 meals plus puddings a day. He weighs 21lb and is a sturdy baby.

He is nearly crawling too and seems to be very active in the day. Help please!!! x

Ava has started doing this recently too. She is bottle fed though.
I give her 3 meals a day & about 3 bottles. Have tried giving her extra food/snacks but it doesnt make a difference.
I think ellie did it too but my memory is awful!!
As you said it could be a growth spurt :)
Sorry I'm not much help

It could be a growth spurt or he might want mummy in the night for comfort. It is around that age when they understand that if they cry, mummy comes to them! I guess if you check out whether he seems hungry or just wants a cuddle you could try water if it's just a cuddle and see if he'll settle back?

You have a big boy. I would try to up the solids and still (if possible 3 milk feeds a day) protein at lunch of chicken, fish lamb or such and then a big carb dinner - so baked potatoe and beans, root veg medley, leek and potatoe soup. That sort of thing. Make your own as shop bought contain a lot of water or 'fillers' which bulk up the jar food but don't keep the baby full up.

Keep u updated on how things go.

thanks for the reply and ideas. I do tend to use shop brought food. If I did give a jacket potato would you expect him to eat a whole one?
Thanks again.
