Hi everyone,

I had a midwife appointment this morning (all went well thankfully), and I had a zillion things to ask her about (needed my MATB1, prescription exemption form etc.), and I also asked her about a form for the Health In Pregnancy Grant.
She kind of laughed and said everyone had asked her about this, and that she would not have the forms until April - however, the notes on the Government website state that expectant mothers who apply within the 1st 3 months of the year will receive the payment in April - but how can we apply if we can't get the forms?
I'm totally confused by this!
Even my HR have mentioned this on our intranet, and when I queried it with them, they said "yes, that's right, not until April blah blah blah!"
I'm lost!

I asked my midwife at my 22 week appointment and she said she had the forms in a locked drawer and would fill mine in for me at my next appointment which is a week tomorrow.

Hmmm how strange that is. My next appointment is at the hospital, so I'm going to ask the midwife there instead, see if they can help me!
Thanks x

Yeah mine is at the hospital too for a growth scan and bloods, so will ask there, if not, i know that my own midwife at my surgery knows about them.

i went to see my gp mf at 14 weeks (cpl of weeks ago)

she told me about it and said she'd give me a form at my next appointment - which will be in april anyway

I have an appt with my MW next week and am planning on asking her about that grant aswell.. I read the info on the website and it definately said that we are to fill out the forms now ready for April when the grant will come through.

And that reminds me.. I also need to ask MW for forms for exemption certificat aswell.. thanksf or reminding me

Why they don't want to give it to you all??
I went to my midwife yesterday, asked for the form and she gave it to me straight away!!! She had a small box full of them. I had to fill it in and in 3-weeks time when I go back she will fill it in and sign for me to send to HMRC.

They are available now and they should give the forms to you as it's not a conditional grant, everyone after 25 pregnant and due the 6th April or after is entitled to it.

glad someone has checked. midwife app a week tomorrow so i'll sort this then hopefully

im useless when it comes to stuff like this and i am TRYING to be organised.

I kind of get the feeling my midwife is quite new, and I think she kept saying she wouldn't have them until April because she didn't really know anything about it...... (she also moaned (although jokingly but enough to make me feel guilty) a bit about how much paperwork I was causing her, and stopped a conversation with me to put her phone on charge because it was about to die - aside from this, she was quite thorough, took my blood to check for OC, did blood pressure, urine, heartbeat etc. but just slightly unprofessional I think).
I knew I'd read that people have already had their forms. I'm definitely going to ask at the hospital. Not that I'm in a rush, but I want to just be organised for once in my life!

I'll be applying late March/April, as I don't turn 25 weeks until then, will I still get the grant later on?

Argh midwives should have been told the procedure about these grants because they seem reluctant to give us the stupid form! I forgot to ask my mw about it the other day but then again, she didn't mention it and I have a feeling she will either not know about, waont give me the form yet, or just delay the whole process for some reason

Surely the sooner we send the form, the better chance we have of getting the grant first? Im like you though, i want to be organised and have it all sent and out of the way. I already have my MA form ready to be sent as soon as im 26 weeks.

Do we need to send our MAT1B forms with this grant? cos mine will be sent away for MA at the time.

It is ongoing, but it doesn't start until the next tax year (April 5th) which is why women with a due date before this don't qualify. Any pregnant woman who is due after April 5th will get the grant, but you won't get it until you are 25 weeks pregnant. So for me, I will be 25 weeks on March 15th, but won't get the money until after April as it doesn't come in until then. If I were pregnant this time next year, I would just get it at 25 weeks.

I think it's being rolled out on a staggered basis, so as HMRC aren't inundated with all the claims at once - which is why some women have got them and some haven't. Let's face it, they couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery, so if every eligible pregnant woman applied at once, it'd probably take them a year to give anyone any money!

I hope that makes sense!!

its not like its their own bloody money!!!

asking my MW on the 4FEB09

And I shall be asking on Feb 10th even though I'll only be 16 weeks. Damned I'm getting that money considering how little I'll be getting for SMP.

I asked my midwife at my last appointment and she didnt evan know what i was talking about

she then rang me back after asking her supervisor and she mentioned that they will not get the forms untill april so when i go to see her in march i will ask for one then

Hi

I asked my MW at my 24 week check (2 weeks ago) and was told that I didn't qualify! I know I do cos I'm due on the 27th April but she said I had to be 25 weeks pregnant from the week commencing the 22nd December so I'd missed it by 3 weeks!! :wall:

Now what do I do? My midwife is a bit useless anyway, and I know she'll be funny with me if I bring it up again, especially to tell her she's wrong!

Help!!!

Print this off and give it to her - she's wrong wrong wrong!! Your GP will have the forms and can sign it for you if you don't want to ask her about it again.

http://campaigns.direct.gov.uk/money4mum2be/

And you can't claim it until you're 25 weeks, so there's no point asking for the forms until you are, for those who are earlier on than that - worth mentioning to you MW though so she can get her butt in gear and find out about it though!! :wall:

my midwife told me that she couldnt give out the forms until you are 25 weeks pregnant, i was one of the first my midwife had given them to cos i was 25 weeks on the day of my appointment. and said that it would be more like the end of may before i got anything cos it dont come out til the 6th of april.
