I haven't  i dont know what to put or where to start. Scared about pain relief and dont have the best knowledge. I am told by my MW my blood pressure is low in general. Today its 100/60 and before its even been 90/50 on average and i heard epidural isnt good if you have low BP as it actually causes your BP to go lower if this is true i want to avoid an Epidural as I would start to get all panicky:shock:. xxxx

I've never made a definatly plan with any of mine !! just that i'll start with gas and air and if need anything stronger work my way up !! think thats the best way to b as u dont know how u r going to b. only things i have in mine is that my hubby cuts the cord, that baby is delivered onto my chest. know this probably doesnt help much but works for me !! lol xxx

that sounds lovely as when i spoke to some people at an antenatal class they had every eventuality lined up like an army drill! and i just couldnt relate to it as giving birth is the unkown to me . But yeah i spose gas and air and work up if needed! thanks :) theres an injection to isnt there to get after birth out. I need an anti d injection after birth so i might put that on there too :) xxx

Hi hun! If you're not sure where to start google 'nhs choices birth plan' it gives u a proforma to fill in. Obviosuly u don't have to have a birth plan and most people I know said don't bother coz u don't know how it will go but this plan gave made me think about the potential choices I'd have to make and I have put down things as preferences rather than definites. Hope that helps xx

thanksyou very much mum2b will have a google xxxx

Just keep an open mind unless there is anything your strongly for or against. I'm not really going to write one as I plan to be at home but I know I don't want drugs unless baby is in any danger then whatever needs doing can be done. Who's your birth partner? Best to chat with them too about things you do don't want and things like cutting cord, skin to skin contact, who looks at baby's sex, breast feeding etc

I dont have a birth plan & didn't with 1st, I think as long as you have firm ideas of what you want/dont want you'll be fine. And even if u do have a birth plan, they always double check it at the time anyway.

:)

Birth partner is my mom. She is 65 next thursday her and dad have had 7 of us. Her view is 'we didnt have all this in my day' lol how cute! Like they seem to break it down into stages as you say skin to skin etc breast feeding etc my mom says its new to her all the decisions we are gave etc

I find it quite hard in general with knowing what to expect and what to choose as so much has changed since my mom last gave birth and even my friends one has a 3 year old she had never been offered a sweep or knew what one was at the time, amazing how much things change!xxxx

My mum always says that too, back in the 70s when I was born you just got strapped to a bed, told what to do and baby taken away to nursery for the night! Think my dad was one of the few fathers who got to be there! All these decisions can make it harder, I think just go with your instincts at the time. Have you read about placenta management? That was something I knew nothing about last time as was given a random jab to help it out which I knew nothing about and if I even wanted it. Make sure you know how you feel about epidurals and all the pros and cons as thats prob the one lots of people have differing views on. Do you get the option of a pool birth? If you do maybe have a read up on that see if it appeals to you. (def does to me!)

wow lol my mom that too hahah, she says a father was expetced to stay outside the room (ur dads lucky) until baby was out and cleaned and dressed hahah my mom is amazed by scans and all the appointments etc

I have been told about placenta at antenatal class with that injection to force it out quickly, Whats your actual view on it Sarah?
At first I thought hell yeah have that as can be around 1-2hours to pass naturally. My mom is digusted by it abit as she said it comes accross NHS want you in and out of rooms quicker and speed things up.Mom said the injection wasnt about in her time. But i wouldnt want to be in a mess down there waiting for it to come etc. But what is intresting is If you choose to breastfeed apparently this is ment to help pacenta come quickly as prompts contraction from suckling (have seen this on net) so it does make me think why does this NHS push this injection because honestly they were coming accross as pushy as breast feeding in general so they much gain something.

As being high risk preg until last week couldnt have had water birth so never thought of that and prob dont want epidural as have low blood press and that can make it lower so maybe gas n air and pethadine if i need more :)

No birth plan, never had one with the others, I just go with the flow and always start with gas and air and just see how it goes from there, and omg at the thought of being strapped down
