It does sound as though they could be Panic Attacks, they can manifest differently in different people. I have suffered with them for nearly 12 years now, I have to take medication daily...however, I am going through psychotherapy so that I can come off the drugs to try for baby again. Tracey and Jo are right about breathing techniques, you can get lots of help to deal with the symptoms practically...but it is also a really good idea to get some sort of counselling or Cognative behaviour Therapy to get to the bottom of your anxiety and change your thinking patterns. Talk to your doctor and he/she should be able to sort out somehterapy for you.
