Hello, I'm pregnant with my third baby and have been worrying because I've been reading about women having multiple incidents of retained placenta after they give birth.. like if it happens once there's a high risk of it happening again with another pregnancy?

I went through it with my second baby and am quite worried as I was traumatised by the whole ordeal. Is there anything I can do to prevent it or does anybody have positive stories?

Thank you xo

Oh bless you hun, did they have to take you to thetre to remove it?

I passes a lump of placenta about a week after i had my first baby and ended up with an infection but i didn't suffer the trauma of having stuff removed. xx

Hi there, aww sorry to hear you got an infection! Yeah I think I mentioned it in a previous post. I was discharged from hospital with tablets but was rushed back in a day later with an infection. Then I was put on a drip for 5 days in the hope that the products would expell themselves but they didn't, so I had to have a D&C operation. It was awful, I was away from my newborn daughter and family for 5 days. Really don't want it to happen again, it truly was awful!

I'd just like some positive stories lol because I don't think I could cope with the fear of knowing it will happen again xo

Hi Chrissie, I know what you're going through cos this happened to me too, you're actually the first woman I've 'spoken' to who has also gone through it. I got an infection but didn't realise till my daughter was 6 weeks old then had to go back to hospital for a week and had a D&C too. I was lucky though, my daughter was able to come and stay in the room with me, they actually put me back on the maternity ward, and my mum and husband were able to stay illegally too.
It was traumatic to say the least, but my consultant lady did say that I should be able to deliver normally in the future (even tho they perforated my womb in the process!!)
Congratulations on your pregnancy! hope it all goes well for you x
