More commonly known as Yule. Its the origin of xmas trees, Santa claus, and yule logs.. Longest day of the year... when ancient people celebrated the return of the sun to the earth... it is a very significant celebration.
It's welcomed by me I find it so hard in winter and just to know the turning point has come is something to celebrate
Happy Solstice! Isnt everyone supposed to get Jiggy at 6.08am to celebrate? Il be sleeping Im afraid but prob having naughty dreams instead
sorry to digress a bit but has anyone been to the summer solstice celebrations at the stone henge? its really good its like a big rave its so surreal! not been for a few years but would like to go again. is there a winter solstice party there coz i never heard of it
Oooo Me.. !!! 11 years ago... I passed my driving test on the 20th and drove all the way to Stonehenge with some friends that night for the celebrations..
Happy Solstice.....I thought it was the shortest day?? I only say that cos the longest day is 21st june, which is my step mom's birthday, so she gets a longer 'day' then everyone else on their birthdays (unless you share a birthday with her )
It is the shortest day, but then the days start getting longer again Stonehenge....no ive never been and never will....its supposed to be a peaceful and meaningful ritual but I know many pagans who refuse to go now as its ruined by the noise and too many people who have just gone for a "rave" when thats absolutely nothing to do with what its about I had my own little private yule ritual yesterday
